As a former anabaptist I am probably a lot less enamored of plain dress anabaptists (Amish, Hutterite, Old order mennonite, German Baptist ...) than the general population and maybe even a little hostile, especially toward the men.
Which is a problem because for the last month, I've been trying to schedule a meeting with a plain dress anabaptist guy for work (because of the business he works for--unrelated to religion except in the sense that everything is related to religion) and he has been a total pain in the ass. Rude, unresponsive, getting mad at me for not responding to an email that I never saw because he sent it to another person (okay there's a giveaway that he's not old order Amish), not answering my repeated questions about whether he needs to have the meeting over the phone or can do it over the internet (which he obviously has but also he lives in the middle of nowhere so they could have pretty shitty internet in which case a zoom meeting doesn't work), sending me emails asking for the meeting to be in 2 hours and then getting mad because I didn't see his email within 2 hours of him sending it so of course we didn't have the meeting ...
When we finally have this meeting I don't know how I'm going to be able to do it politely and constructively. I can hope that he will put on some charm in person, but having dealt with conservative anabaptist men I have a sense that he will be terse and Germanic and talking to him will be like pulling teeth.
Ugh. Please all you anabaptists out there pray for him to be so overwhelmingly kind and helpful during our meeting that I'm tempted to convert back--or at least take back all the nasty things I have thought and said about $@&*ing anabaptists.
