Today is day five @folkrebellion's ten days of digital detox. Today she asks...do you ever round up the phones at dinner time and do digital free dinners. Yesterday I had Jess Davis from @FolkRebllion introduce herself and tell you a little about her mission to help people become more mindful about their digital plugged-in life vs.their real-life. Give them a follow for daily inspirations on ways to take your life offline. Jess writes by hand not because its good for her brain & memory or because the words flow easier. She writes because someday she wants to spill tears over old love letters, laugh at folded notes from best friends, and hand her son something in her own writing that smells of her and old coffee stains. There's something lost in communication read only through screens. Emotion, sentimentality, tangibility, and preservation? One day I found the @folkrebellion while scrolling through my feed. I really love what she is doing so I asked her to introduce herself to everyone... And yes she makes that shirt (it's available on her website) After 9 years of helping brands find their digital voices, Jess Davis woke up and realized she had helped create a society that was no longer present or connected at all. People's lives have been swallowed by screens and the results are just starting to become known. After a few digital detoxes, much research, and lots of soul searching Jess, a lifelong writer, hiker, and "real-lifer"gone astray, realized she needed to use her megaphone for change and inspire folks (and herself) to return to living in "real-life" ... while balancing their digital one. Living well is not sleepwalking forward, head down with a screen in our face. Jess decided to unplug, head back to the woods, and look up device-free instead.
