After thoroughly memorizing the way to the Pineapple Kingdom, as told to her by the Pineapple lord, the passionate pineapple singer decided she was independent enough to stop by a secretive (at least before the basement was flooded) casino, pineapplingly so!

By now, with her flawless poker face and perfectly balanced strategy, she was robbing a whole table of it's chips at every opportunity, as the guest DJ kept playing the best tunes for a casino.

Kerosene folded another pair of cards, audibly groaning.

"Teto wins the hand."

The large robot descended from the ceiling it was hung on once again, to offer more unwarranted critique.

"You know, statistically, I should be insulted by your very presence. Someone of vaguely similar visage to mine would be expected to make intelligent choices, at least regarding the cards—"

"Would you stop acting like I chose to be caught in an explosion, just to get a set of prosthetics that happen took look like you?" — Kerosene replied, his bandages still forcing him to talk through his teeth — "Because I did not.

...I'll raise."

"I am completely aware of what a judgement-worthy, intentional career choice is. Example: not only are you gambling after losing your job, said job was also alleged by your former coworkers to be—"

"Riding Dick for a living? Heard that joke a thousand times already."

GLaDOS coldly paused — "...Quote: 'Riding Dick for minimum wage.'"

"Come on, she isn't even called that any—"

"Literally beating a dead horse? I know" — she interrupted, getting miffed silence in response — "My sassy prediction modules seem to have outdone the organic alternative by several fractions of a second, once again."

"Shut up already... Call."

The robot rose back up to the ceiling, watching as the final cards were being dealt.

"Three aces, baby, check it o—"

Kerosene slammed the table — "How in the actual—

ok so niko let me walk you through this real quick so we can skip the tutorial. please raise your hand if u have any questions

anonymous as you know it is not actually one singular person but multitudes of random individuals all sending their own opinions and inputs to interact with your current adventure in *literally* **any** way possible. for example, The Sun was not originally a ham sandwich - rather, a lightbulb - but one person sent the idea of it becoming a hamsandwich through the anonymous filter, and so, it became a ham sandwich. Essentially, we are a hivemind-based chaos god with the singular goal of helping you put the sun back.

still with me? anyways, that other voice you heard that batter said was not anonymous is indeed not anonymous. that is actually Chara from the Hit 2015 Indie RPG Metanarrative, Undertale. i would advise building a rapport/friendship with them as even though they are technically an antagonist according to a visual aid only we have access to, i personally think that showing kindness is always a good idea and it will potentially stave off any betrayals

"T—Thanks... That's cool!"

Niko and Batter would not get too much time to appreciate their new, powerful companion, nor to consider the inconvenience of it not having an accompanying pokeball, for a set of steps sounded, slowly approaching from behind the two.

A short figure, wearing a blue jacket, white shirt and a pair slippers.

"State your business" — commanded the Batter.

"Woah uh— sorry..." — the approaching boy, now startled, backed away a few steps — "am I interrupting something?"

"No."

"I just... wanted to ask if you saw my sister anywhere."

"Not that she's missing anymore... She just has unstoppable adventuring spirit after she returned." — the boy continued — "It's a bit hard to keep up with her..."

It was only by then that Niko noticed the other kid.

"Oh, um, hi?" — they stuttered out — "I... didn't realize you were there."

"W—Wait, are you the Messiah?" — the other kid suddenly realized.

"Yeah..." — Niko paused — "We... lost the sun though."

"Oh thank—

Wait, what!?"

"A scary shadow-y thing attacked us and took it..."

"Oh my goodness!" — yelled the boy, pausing, before remembering a strange sighting of his — "Wait, I think I saw something like that flying above a while back!"

"Where?" — the batter bluntly interjected.

"I... remember it going to that strange dark pillar in the distance, that's all."

The batter barely nodded.

Without a word, he proceeded on forwards, with Niko hastily turning around to follow, getting a sudden proper look at the Giratina along with it.

"Wh— Eek!" — they yelped, finally recognizing it's size and visage.

"It's here to help" — assured the batter.

"Um, okay! Sorry! Wait!"

The Messiah, Batter, and beast went forth, leaving the lone boy behind, looking as confused as the other kid.

"Well... They... didn't let me ask anything..." — he thought.

"I didn't even say what my name was!" — the realization came several moments too late, when it was far too late for him to un-embarrass himself before the other two — "Gosh, in front of the messiah!?

"Okay" — confidently replied the Batter, stopping his walk.

"I didn't think you could... do...

S-Sure, thanks...!"

Niko turned around and opened their arms, copying the Batter's stance, and the direction he was facing, ready to embrace you.

And so you did.

Having wrapped your hands around the two, pushing them a bit closer to your chest, you could feel the silky cape and scarf that Niko wore on their shoulder, the firm outfit of the Batter, the nuzzle of soft hair seldom worsened by yet uncleaned slime residue and the side of a helmet, brim turned aside as to not poke at you.

A soft hand embracing you, a cold hand embracing you, and the hands embracing each other.

The warmth of two, softly holding onto you.

So you felt, allegedly.

The paths of yellow stone still lead down, and further down. In a while, the two would have been all the way on the ground.

The Batter kept walking fast, as Niko kept up with a light jog.

"Where— are we even going...?" — Niko asked, struggling a bit through audible breaths.

"This is the way to the sun. As I warned, prepare for an attack."

"W— What? OOF—"

The Batter abruptly stopped, as Niko accidentally ran into his back, recoiling away, with both proceeding to stand still.

In this silence they heard something, or even someone — unintelligible whispers surrounded them. The sounds softly giggled, cried, judged, and watched — the two could very well feel that they were being watched by a hundred eyes.

And yet, unfazed, the Batter lifted his bat forth, and called:

"I am well aware of your presence, incomplete creation. As the voice of god commanded your creation, it has foretold it to me. You now contradict Their will. Cease your futile game of hide and seek and show yourself!"

The sounds became louder, yet louder.

Merging into one barely coherent entity.

A strange figure appeared, sounding like a single crowd, seeming like a thousand things, yet neither at all — all that could be comprehended by mortal senses were feline faces, purple squares and, sometimes, voices.

"Oh tell me, oh tell me, do you miss us? Do you miss us? The past that lead you to where you—"

"I won't miss a single attack if you continue," — interrupted the Batter, without a hit of fear — "Cease your approach, or face my holy wrath."

But it seemed to only smile in response.

And so, the other two raised their weapons.

* The batter used Wide Angle

The batter peered into the pulsating shapes, seeking any weakness or gaps in the anomaly's defense.

EQUINOX HP - ??? SP - 0 A cry of the discarded. No weaknesses. Easily hurt.

"Try to defend yourself. Or avoid getting hit in the first place." — Said Batter to Niko, before commanding Alpha to attack.

* Alpha used Expected Bracket

The halo dashed at the squares, slashing with it's own, now suddenly sharp edge, the blade covered by a faint yet hurtful venom.

The beast cried out for a moment, like a crowd lit ablaze — "Hurt! Hurt! The pain..."

* Use brace!

"Ack— Okay!" — Stuttered Niko, raising their sword before them in an attempt to defend themselves.

* Psy-fly, defend Niko!

"Bzzt!" — The fly flapped it's wings to dash in front of the kid.

* For a moment... You comprehend confusion.

The discordant voices went mute for a mere moment, it all spoke a single sentence, in a barely recognizable, synthetic voice:

"What have you done, father?"

The thing then turned back to unintelligible, stuttering rectangles, now spreading forth towards the two attackers — it seemed horrifically dangerous to touch. However, as dangerous as the attack looked to touch, it was slow, easy to avoid, and left zero souls harmed.

* The Batter used Furious Home Run

* Alpha used Converted String

* Niko used Cat-Launch!

With all possible holy might, the batter swung at the shapes, hurting it greatly, as Alpha slashed once again with force, and Niko sent a surprisingly painful, magical cat head flying out of their sword, smacking the enemy.

The beast broke out into more horrific cries "Not again! Not again! Not—"

* For a moment... You comprehend war.

The screams once again turned to silence, quickly interrupted by the sound of machinery flying above, as rifles could be heard firing above it. Amongst it, a girl whispered:

"I'm... sorry..."

The two would see — in the unseeable — a gun. Shaking, slowly rising to fire, aiming at someone out of sight. Carefully watching where the barrel pointed, they could avoid the attacks.

A loud crackle once — it sounded like it hit flesh, yet the attack was a miss.

The same crackle twice — no one in sight was hurt again.

The shot sounded again — and the Psy Fly was harshly struck, but no impact went past it.

The gun disappeared.

* The Batter used Furious Home Run

Struck again, it cried out a final roar — "Pain! Pain! Pain... Hurt..." — it could battle no longer, and the shapes started falling back.

Niko sighed hard in relief and adjusted their glasses, as the Batter put away his bat, and Alpha faded away.

The music may be cut as well.

* You won! Earned 0 EXP and 0 D$

* You grew stronger.

"Whew... thanks? What was that... thing?"

"Equinox. It is supposed to be here, but I cannot let it hurt you."

"S— Sure..."

At this point, Niko had simply too many questions to carry around. Nevertheless, the two set forth once again.

Pondering how they would fend off oncoming dangers that this world likely had, the two checked their arsenal of skills.

The Batter currently had six competences — two more than what he had started with:

"Activate Adrenaline" — To use up the Batter's adrenaline bar for a huge increase in damage to him, and his addons.

"Activate Rage" — to use the Batter's rage bar, also for boosted damage.

"Wide angle" — A peer into enemy weaknesses for a low Competence Point cost, preferably used at the start of a fight.

"Run with Courage" — A metallic striking technique, honed to purify specters with ease.

"Save First Base" — A miraculous, though unremarkable in power spell, healing any chosen ally or the batter himself.

"Furious Home Run" — Because, sometimes, what you really need to do is hit someone really hard, with a bat, right in the face.

Alpha — a strange halo following batter — currently had three competences:

"Saturated String" — A basic, yet reliable strike.

"Expected Bracket" — An otherwise weak, but highly toxic in nature strike, inflicting a damaging ail upon enemies.

"Converted String" — …this one's just "Saturated String" but bigger and better, also a reliable strike.

Now, Niko, by themselves would currently be an under-leveled, defense-focused support, only having "Brace" to weaken oncoming damage.

However, since you have given them "a few" pieces of additional equipment, their list of special moves reads something like this:

Oh, seriously? I was curious how high that little number on the left could go!

Well, in that case, I might as well go on a hardly related tangent about the Contra-Aerial misstep! Because I have emotions and I need to release my anger somewhere!

How did these lousy developers even manage to leave this in the final release? Did they not test this move? Or did they test this move, but then it cut off the heads of the entire QA staff, because the hitbox spans half the screen? This either ruins the entire game, or gets Niko banned from every tournament - it serves no other purpose!

This is a crystal clear example of why you shouldn't lazily copy code from—whatever Guilty Shot even is!

Now, I know what you are thinking — "But narrator! This place functions by RPG logic, why would a fighting game hitbox even matter—" — Because of how it converted to said RPG logic! Hitbox size becomes the likelihood to land a hit, giving this move a 342% chance of hitting an opponent, and a 782% chance of hitting airborne opponents! That might sound like it will just land all the time, but it actually means the move can somehow hit 7 times at once!

Why!?

Ah, right, I am not even done with the special moves!

Niko's first "addon", or, rather, friend — Mr. Banana Bread, a Dartrix, and... [Paper shuffling] "not a Chikorita named "Leaves""— okay, why is that written in red marker— Grass type Owl! He could do:

Tackle

Growl

Leafage

Astonish

Yes, he evolved at level one, next question.

This entire duel deck counts as the second addon in menus and when it summons a monster in battle, but the moves to use it belong to Niko, which is not confusing whatsoever.

Niko's third addon — The Psy Fly was a simple, defense based support. It had:

"Block" — Defends an ally from the next attack that hits them, disabling the fly for several turns upon blocked attack.

That's all, next.

The fourth and so far final ally was Soft & Wet — the powerful manifestation of... someone else's fighting spirit? I suppose it's Niko's now — a powerful ethereal guardian under their very confused control, capable of:

Barrage

Slip & Slide

I'm not even sure I've listed all of it — there's more stuff, like the status effects giving them limited immortality and an odd curse, the free addon slot for later and…

Oh, forget it, let's move on.

"That's all you can do," — finished the batter — "I can repeat myself if you need it."

"Please don't."

Niko couldn't keep up with the explanation, and neither did they like hearing the sheer onslaught of incomprehensible buzzwords and nonsense regarding "stands" and "addons" and "this small fly following you can withstand the impact of a tank shell".

One complex strategy game learned every three days — that is the limit.

"I think you are of use in purifying this world. Follow me, I sense a specter ahead."

"Hello."

Niko's eyes turned to the ground below them, certainly not of jealousy, as they kept following the Batter.
