I want a hedgehog sooo bad now, but they're illegal in California, but my question was how do you know if they have become overweight? Since they're a round cute ball of fluffiness. How do you know what's their healthy weight?

Of course every hedgehog has a different body shape, and some of them are just skinnier or broader than others. Another thing is the amount of fat; an overweight hedgehog's belly is a bit too fluffy and you can often see fat "hanging" behind the front legs and as a hump between the shoulder blades. Some overweight hedgehogs aren't able to ball up fully any more, but that's really extreme.
