Why would you have to save up money for them? I've never heard someone with dreads bemoan the expenses haha

there is this photo going round which is like a jar with 'dreadlock' and something else 'fund' on it haha and i've heard quite a few people who think they can't afford to get them done because they think they have to get them done in a salon, which is sooooo counterintuitive
