A dilemma i'm having with human AUs where Mama Z is around is that like. Well. Kenpachi needs a starter name.

I feel like Mama Z would pick something short and simple for him. One syllable, one kanji. easier to learn it, say it, and write it if there's less to deal with.

Her name I think is self-chosen and follows the same ideaology. not sure on hers yet tho.

So maybe...

健 = Healthy/Strong, also pronounced "Ken"

Maybe it reminds Retsu of her girl gang days and she tells him about being The Kenpachi, Yachiru.

And then, when he's grown and alone, Ken renames himself Kenpachi to feel a little less so....
