OK but like...thinking about that scene when Sousuke, Rin, and Gou were very young and celebrating Christmas but Rin was sick...I wonder who’s idea it was to put Rin in a party hat. The poor thing looked so miserable and sick. Maybe Sousuke was the one who told Gou that “if your brother wears this hat, it’s magical powers will make him feel better” and Gou just CATCHES ON REAL QUICK and immediately goes “ONII-CHAN ONII-CHAN WEAR THIS HAT IT’LL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER.” And Rin just GLARES at Sousuke because really Sousuke just wanted him to wear the dumb hat but he knows Rin can never deny Gou’s requests.

i don't care about the makoharu vs. rinharu wank, but seeing people write off makoto as a useless character in a story whose central theme is about the power of friendship makes zero sense. just because a character isn't driving the conflict of the plot (rin), acting as the audience surrogate (rei), or being the mood-lightener of the group (nagisa), doesn't mean they are useless. makoto helps haru reach his epiphanies by articulating his own feelings and his team's, which is a big role!

yeah, makoto is actually the heart of the entire show and most of haru’s growth has been through makoto.

so people writing makoto off and actually claiming the show would carry on just fine without him
