So I just finished Season 3 of Merlin. (If you haven't seen it and are going to...don't read this).
In the last episode, Camelot has been taken over by Morgana and her army of immortals. Merlin and Arthur are hiding in the woods trying to figure out what to do.
And all these characters from various episodes that they have become friends with start showing up. Because they all love Arthur and/or Merlin and want to help them fight against Morgana.
And when the last two, Lancelot and Perceval showed up, it suddenly hit me that all these characters together constitute the original knights of the round table (well, not ALL, there were lots, but the most important ones). Gawaine and Lancelot and Perceval and Lionell and Elyan and Guinevere (even though she's not a knight.)
And then, as I was processing this and the squeal was building inside of me, they all escape into this old ruin and find an old, round stone table. And they all sat at it. And they all promised to fight with Arthur. And you realize how much his and Merlin's simple acts of kindness for ordinary people has influenced their kingdom without even realizing it. And he knighted them all. And they were knights of the round table for the first time ever.
And I can't remember the last time I squealed that loudly.
And then it got better. Because after they won, Merlin had to make sure no one could ever wield Excalibur except Arthur (who doesn't know it exists yet). So he goes into the forest, and finds a large stone, and uses magic to embed the sword in it.
That fucking episode. I'm scared to watch season four. I'm scared bad things will happen and ruin the perfection.
