There's always those elements within various fandoms that refuse to recognize their faves as flawed individuals and will absolutely try to nuke anyone who will point out imperfections. Ironically, it's what makes our faves layered, so the failure to embrace the problematic parts of them as canon has always baffled me.
Your faves can still be heroes if they've screwed up, suffered the consequences, and learned from it.
