Sylv’s whole deal from a realm reborn onwards is being forcibly pulled out of his nihilistic “no one is actually kind everyone only cares about profit” mindset and realising that having friends is actually good for you so it is incredibly fun to tear all that away from him for an expansion :) taking away his first ever friends in exchange for a job change and one ☝️ (1) lizar boyfriend (+ plus complementary adopted daughter)

Anyone else think the 50-60 DRK quests, while good, feel a little weird if you do them after completing HVW + the Dragonsong War? “I will kill you for being a heretic!” “That’s uh...not really a thing anymore. No more heretics and all that. Everyone’s cool now. I think they’d all be cool with the whole awkward ‘my husband drank blood’ situation, too.” “Weeeell, uh...I’ve come this far. Get ‘em, boys!”

It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to think of it like she and her goons are probably people who are still clinging to the old ways rather than embracing the new peace, but maybe Squeenix could’ve put that in the dialogue somewhere. I know X’hrun  makes a comment about you being the one who liberated Ala Migho if you don’t start the RDM quest till after you finish the Stormblood stuff, so I’m a little surprised they didn’t throw in a line or two like that in the DRK quest. Though I guess with Sidurgu and Rielle being there the dialogue change would be a bit more involved than an additional line or two.

Tangentially related, they did a really good job at making that lady look unhinged right at the end of the quest.
