it’s so weird to see a film or whatever set in 1944 and the characters are like “yeah there’s a war on” but in a vague faraway sort of way... because they’re in the US and the country is all green and the buildings are all intact and the people are just hanging out doing normal people things, no bombs, no shooting, nothing

that’s SO not my image of 1944 holy wow
