I like didnt care about Stranger Things for the longest time and I started rewatching the earlier seasons so I could watch the new season with some context and I wasn't huge on shipping the first time around watching the show but I knew about byler and stuff but I didnt really pay attention to it or like care very much about the ships but during my rewatch I started to see where people were getting it from and I started interacting with more Stranger Things stuff online and I see so much like beautiful fan art or edits and i am a multishipper through and through and I have fallen in love with so many of the ships but what I have seen even more of is the nastiest most hateful things that I feel like I've ever seen in fandom spaces. I dont understand where we strayed so far away from letting other people enjoy the ships and characters that they want to. Why is it necessary to get in the comments of a person showing off the art of a ship that they like and tell them that they are a disgusting fetishizer and that they deserve to k*ll themselves. Literally almost word for word of a comment I read on a byler post earlier today. Why is that necessary and why do you feel comfortable putting that on the internet??? But I feel like I only this type of stuff on content about queer ships. Like I feel like im going crazy. Fandom and fan made fiction were literally built on queer people. Queer ships and multishipping were like THE foundations of why fandom is such a huge thing right?? But in general fandom has always been about having a space to enjoy a thing that you love with other people who love it and you dont have to agree about everything to be kind to each other. Like star trek and Sherlock Holmes and supernatural did not do all this for nothing man. It just feels like people are so willing to be homophobic and disguise it by claiming that someone wanting two characters get together is gross because theyre both minors. Shit some of them dont even try to disguise their homophobia. Like that's literally the same thing your doing but with your straight ship.

The creation of this picture was actually the downfall of shipping in fandom. I haven't posted on tumblr in a while i just needed to rant for a sec.

It CANNOT be that hard to adapt a piece of media. Really, it can't. It's my number one question when reading comics or books - how the hell can someone mess this up? I can understand tweaking minor things in the context of the story, eg: setting or time or whatever (again, as long as it doesn't affect the story). BUT SIBLINGS?! As so many users have written on here already, it is just a disgrace to Oscar Wilde and so many other authors when their piece of media is put to shame in such a way. SIBLINGS?!?!?!?!!? This not only disregards the content, but the context! I am hoping so hard that this is like some massive prank and Netflix is doing this to get people to rage-watch the show, and then it turns out theyre not siblings and actually gay. I am hoping so damn hard that that's the truth. Anyways, I want to prove that its not that hard to make an adaptation of a piece of media, so artist, animators, and more of tumblr, UNITE! Feel free to reblog this post with comics or animations or anything that can count as a plausible adaptation, or with examples of good adaptations of a piece of media!
