Little John Watson doodle
Like many people in the fandom I’ve wondered if Sherlock S4 is actually a coma dream (I tend to believe it is). And I also wonder exactly when it became a dream. And I’ve debated with myself whether it’s Sherlock’s dream or John’s. The theory that’s winning in my head currently (and it does change occasionally) is that it’s Sherlock’s coma dream and it starts at 221B when John (and Sherlock) confront Mary about her true identity (HLV). Sherlock is physically suffering greatly due to his very recent gunshot wound (courtesy of Mary, of course. Grrrrrr) and begins to collapse and requests an ambulance (and they may need to restart his heart, according to Sherlock himself). That’s where I think the coma dream scenario kicks in. We don’t know what happened to him when the paramedics took him away to the hospital. I think he slipped into a coma and all the rest of the series I s a coma dream. Any thoughts? Has this been a common theory and I’m just finally catching up?

My local PBS is running the bbc Sherlock series starting this upcoming Saturday night. First time I’ve seen it on PBS for years. I’ve seen all the episodes a hundred times but I’m still excited.
