What about girls ??
There is so much to say and not enough world to express how i feel about the international women's day. First, i think it's really important to specify that this day is not actually to celebrate women but to celebrate their fights, their achievements and their strongness. We've come from so far, and even if the fight is obviously not finish yet, our condition now is so much better, in every way, than it was last century. A hundred years ago, in most coutry, women weren't able to vote, to work, or even to have bank account without their husband's agreement. Women had always been conformed in an oppression, so much many of them don't actually see for what they need to fight. We've been repeated all our childhood double standards, and beauty standards that we unconsciously place ourselves below men, and we uncousciously prepare ourselves to enter into categories that are suposed to define us. We need to solve this issue from the bottom ; and never tell a little girl that some doors are closed because of her gender. Not a lifestyle, not a carrier, not a dream, not even a toy, not even a food. We formate our kids to sexism and when they'll grow up we ask them fight against an ideal we actually placed into their minds. We need to let children play with the toy they want, dress as they like, instead of filling their minds with stereotypes. Why would tell a seven-year-old boy who has girlfriends that it's good, he's already heartbreakers while laughing, and tell a girl that she's too young for that, as if at seven years old, she already needs to prepare herself for some charming prince. Even that is wrong, we tell young girls that when they grow up they'll meet a charming prince but we don't actually learn young boys to be charming prince as if it's normal and acceptable for a man to have several girlfriends in his life, but a woman should have one that she'll love and rescpect and all of that ? It's not okay to raise your son and your daughter a different way, to not buy them the same toys, not because they don't want the same, but because she's a girl, and he's a boy. Let your son play with a Barbie if he wants to, and your daughter with an Ironman. I swear to you, that's not what will make them unhappy when they grow up. And another thing i don't get is why it's men duty to speak for women, and represente them. You do know there are some really intelligent, cultivated women who can be our speakers, because they actually know what it's like to be a woman. Why would men take decisions over women lifes ? Why, for example, it's their votes that counts durind a debate on periods ? You don't have periods, you don't own the right to decide if it's painful or not, and if protections are too expansive or not. You don't know what it's like to have a low self estime because people sexualize you too much, or you don't get into beauty standards, or you did some life choices that men don't approuve. It's important that men support women rights, and fight with us for equality, because we'll never get equality without them, but we don't need to applause to every men that has ever think that sexism is wrong, and gender equality is better. Instead of celebrating them, we should do a big shoutout to all women, in all of their diversity, because it's what this day is all about ; diversity. We should celebrate all women, all their achievements, all the choices which made them the beautiful person they are, all their bodies, all their fights, and their endless strongness. Because everyday is a fight, against men supremacy, and they are strong to just be alive. Please, shoutout to all the women, and please, don't diabolize feminism. Don't ever forget that feminism is about gender equality, educate yourself before screaming to the devil every time a woman tells you she is a feminist, because there are many chances you're one too.
