Hello! First of all: your cosplay looks absolutely amazing. The update on your Alistair is so great! I also had a question. I am making this cosplay as well, using EVA foam as my base and I can not figure out how to cut/make the breastplate curve over my chest to make it look more natural. Do you have any tips?
First off, same to you with your Anders costume, and I’m happy to hear there’ll be more Alistair cosplayers out there! :D
As for the breastplate, I found that adding a dart to the top center and cutting a groove into the back of the foam piece that it can bend over slightly will help with achieving the look of the splintmail from the game.
The letters on the template are how I differentiated between the different size splints throughout the costume, so feel free to ignore that bit.
Additionally, and I can’t recommend this enough, make sure you get two large belts to go around your waist. Not only will these help to keep the cuirass properly positioned on your torso, it will create a slimming effect(which is something I’m incredibly thankful for, since my affinity for finding most foods delicious has not been kind on my waistline), not to mention the splintmail has belts in the game, so…accuracy and all that, right? Right.
I do still have all of my templates on hand, so if you need any additional references similar to this, let me know, and I can snap a few more pictures for you.
I really do need to knock out a build log/tutorial for my updated set of splintmail. I’ll probably toss that together when I’m less busy, but I do hope this has helped to resolve your conundrum!
