Maybe this has already been said a million times but it is my firm belief/headcanon that Justice must have messed with Anders’ memories because I really hate how badly Anders talks about the Grey Wardens in DA2.
I mean, the whole point of his character arc in Awakening (if you befriended him) was that he goes from “I just want to be free and not tied down anywhere” to “you know what, being a Grey Warden isn’t so bad and I made a really good friend here, I think I’ll stay”.
And do they really expect us to believe that anyone would have the power to take Ser Pounce-a-lot away? A gift from the Warden Commander themselves?!
And that’s not even including my headcanons of my Warden and Anders becoming BFFs and basically being like siblings!! If someone tried to take Pouncy away she’d be like: “Okay, you’re all fired! Run before I chop your heads off!” And Anders doesn’t even remember Sigrun’s name in the whole Corypheus quest?! Something is definitely up!
TLDR: Justice messed with Anders’ memories so he wouldn’t want to go back to the Grey Wardens, the first place he ever considered his home so FUCK YOU JUSTICE

My son. My child. My baby.
Anders is problematic, and he made some terrible mistakes. But I still love him very much.
He definitely shows some signs of depression imo.
CONFESSION:
I'm a law student at uni, and recently one of my teachers said 'You think Justice is happy? Justice is hard' and I found myself thinking of Anders and grinning like mad. Needless to say, as soon as I got home, I played some DA2.
