Thing is when hemlock started seeing things (shadows etc) and getting weaker bc he had stopped killing people to feed the entity, he started to cvt himself to give at least something very little to the entity so it gives him just a little break and a bit of a relief for a bit.
He stares at the broken mirror and glass on the ground for a while. Then he picks up a piece of the broken mirror, holding it tight.
He brings it closer to his wrist. He stops, focusing on the reflection of that broken piece he is holding so desperately. He looks at himself on the reflection, eyes all teary. The hand he is holding the mirror piece with starts to burn; its bleeding.
He opens his hand, looking at the bloody mess on his palm, the bloody now mirror piece slides off his hand falling on the ground and so does Adrians body, collapsing on the cold floor, sobbing.
this probably dogshit but i wrote it in the train so let it be here as a draft
Adrian might sometimes come off as a little rude or cold, someone might say, but this coldness of his and his slight apathy towards the world is nothing but a facade, the way he was taught to be, by life itself.
When he was just a young boy of six years, his mother, Marguerite-Alene Eldritch, had fallen ill and eventually passed away, leaving her husband, Christopher Eldritch, responsible for the upbringing of their children.
Once she had passed, Christopher almost immediately moved on to marry one of their maids and mother of Adrian's half brothers, since by the time Adrians mom died, the maid and Mr Eldritch were already having an afair.
Regardless, Mr.Eldritch was never quite fond of actually raising children, like any other man in the 16th century, his goal was to have as many descendents as he possibly could, in this case, to take over his horse breeding business when he would be too old and tired to keep it going himself. The Eldritch was a big name in the equine industry, "The Eldritch horses have got the purest blood in the trade, only ridden by high society!" the town would whisper. Truly, in such competitive field full of lies and shrewd bargaining, the Eldritch family was on top, and Mr.Christopher aspired to keep it that way.
It was quite obvious that growing up, Adrian was in a manner of speaking, the black sheep of the Eldritch; from an early age, one could tell little Adrian wasn't like his brothers at all.
Both his half brothers, Henry and William, seemed to always look up to their father and try to follow in his footsteps; having started to learn accounting and finance from very young and often accompanying their father on trips regarding the horse trading. "They seem to try so hard to make father proud" Adrian often thought, but he never fancied the thought of joining. He was always more drawn to his mother, before she was gone, and just like she did, Adrian grew to take delight in poetry and painting.
Even though his half brothers were somewhat younger than Adrian, they didn't pay much attention to either him or their baby sister Grace, who was only two years old when their mother passed away, therefore she was almost exclusively raised by nannies and the family's maids and butlers.
As Adrian's father (and brothers) were usually absent, the one who Adrian got to spend time with was a trusted butler of the Eldritch family, Leopold. Adrian learned to trust Leo more than any family member, since he was the only person than he could always speak his mind to.
