Cat Fight || Drabble
Andrei had brought it back one day, and it had seemed like a reasonable request at the time. They would take care of it until it was safe enough to drop it back into the human residences. She hadn't understood why he had taken such a shine to the mangy-looking thing, but it did look pitiful with its matted fur and exposed ribcage. It probably wouldn't be that bad to take care of it, if only for a week or two. Hell, it even looked cute, nestled in Andrei's arms and purring away without a care in the world.
But oh how wrong she was.
It had been subtle at first. A shredded bed sheet or two, dead rodents left on her doorstep and in her favourite boots. The Fallen had been foolish enough to brush it off as typical feline behaviour. However, when the infuriating beast started to plant itself between Andrei and herself while they were trying to be even remotely intimate, and the fact that only her side of the bed was ever shredded to pieces, she knew she was being targeted. It was confirmed best when Andrei left her cave for the evening, as the cat would go from an endearing kitten into some rendition of a hell beast, spitting and scratching at her at any given opportunity.
The cat hated her and the feeling was mutual. Celine hated that damn cat with every fibre of her being. If Andrei wasn't so oddly attached to it, she could have fed it to the griffins eons ago. Why on Earth did he think that she would enjoy this mongrel's company?
Even now, she glared at the beast as it purred contently in Andrei's lap. The little bastard has the nerve to stare back, unblinking.
"Is something wrong, draga mea?"
The Fallen snapped out of her silent contest with the animal, casually adjusting the book in her lap. "No, nothing."
From the skeptical look on his face, she could tell that he wasn't buying it. "You haven't flipped the page for over ten minutes, dear." He noted, gesturing to her abandoned book.
"Well, it was boring." She replied defensively, shifting in her mild discomfort at being caught.
"This is coming from the same woman who read the entirely of Les Miserables just to prove to Gabriel that she could." Andrei quirked an eyebrow. "You ended up stealing his copy of it because you loved it so much."
She could hear the obnoxious purring of the cat and she was positive it had to do with her predicament. That beast had it out for her. "What can I say? Is just wasn't that good of a read."
Andrei scoffed at that. "You've ignored me for the last two days since you got it. Somehow, I doubt it."
"It's not like you're particularly lacking for company, you know." She grumbled.
The vampire paused, looking from Celine to the cat and back again. A slow grin started to creep up on his face, and she didn't like it at all. "If I didn't know any better, I would say that you're a little jealous."
"Well it's a good thing you do know better, because I am not." Celine stiffened at the accusation. "There is no chance that I would be jealous of that thing."
It was then that Andrei started to snicker. "Who said anything about the cat?" He was clearly entertained by this, although personally she saw nothing funny about it at all. "You're not being very honest with yourself again, are you Celine?"
She could feel her temper rise, and she tossed the book over to the side. Stopping over to the vampire, she grabbed the cat by the scruff of the neck and dropped it on the floor. It hissed at her as the Fallen promptly stole its spot on Andrei's lap, but she couldn't find it in herself to care. "Would you like me to be perfectly honest then?" Celine leaned in closer, nipping at his ear in annoyance. "I don't like the feeling of being replaced with a damn feline."
"Celine, nothing could replace you."
"Promise?" She grinned, pressing her lips against his in a chaste kiss. Celine could feel the laughter in his voice even as she deepened the kiss into something more passionate, savouring his taste. Her fingers had barely finished unbuttoning the top of his shirt before she could feel the tiny pinprick of claws digging their way into her skin and a furry body lodging its way between them.
Celine was forced to pull away, growling at the tiny abomination. "That's it! You are going to the griffins!." She snapped grabbing the kitten by the scruff of the neck again.
"Don't do that Celine." Andrei was still chuckling, and she had half a mind to smack him as he gently took the cat away from her, setting it onto the side of the armchair. "Honestly, you two are exactly alike."
She bristled at this. "We are most certainly not!"
"Of course you are.":Andrei teased, trailing kisses along her jawline as his arms wrapped themselves around her waist. "You're both tough, wily, irresistable charming and more possessive than they'd like to admit. On top of that," He pulled away and she immediately missed his warmth. The smug grin however, she could probably do without, "you're both completely unable to resist me."
Celine huffed. Honestly, he was so full of himself, although it wasn't necessarily untrue. Besides, it was tough to be angry at him with his fingers inching their way under her skirt. "Fine, we'll keep it. But next time, it stays in your cave." The Fallen agreed, voice hitching as he brushed across a sensitive part of her thigh.
"Are we good then?"
"Hm...I suppose so." She was vaguely aware that the cat had started to yowl at them, but Andrei kept her so preoccupied that it was only a passing thought.
'Take that you mangy feline.'
