Ch. 1 of my Andreil FanFic
It was a late night after the foxes had returned from Eden's Twilight, and Everyone had gone to bed. Neil for once had actually consumed some of the alcohol that had been offered to him in copious amounts throughout the night. Not much, but enough to get him tipsy. After He and Andrew lay down in their shared bed and locked the doors, it was silent for a few moments except for the soft sounds of their shared breaths as they stared into each other's eyes. Finally, a quiet voice pierced the silent night.
"Yes or No?"
Not a single second passed before a response continued to tear through the quiet.
"Yes"
They leaned in simultaneously and hovered for a moment without touching. Neil waited for the blonde to validate his 'Yes'.y Slowly he inched foreword, eventually connecting their lips in a surprisingly slow and shy fashion. It was as if he was afraid. This was an unusual night for Andrew Minyard. Something was different, and Neil had sensed it, but knew better than to mention it. Andrew would explain if it was necessary. Sometimes he just needed to figure himself out again, to find the limits, and redraw the lines. After a while of this shyness, Andrew pulls away. Most of the time, this would be fine. Maybe he just wasn't ready for this right now. But Neil knew that this was not the case. If it was Andrews face would have been cold and apathetic. He would have pushed Neil away. But he wasn't. And he didn't. His eyes were unfocused. Something Neil had rarely witnessed. His brow was furrowed, and The Russet haired boy could practically see the gears turning in his head. Andrew never let his guard down like this. After a few seconds, Neil tried to move away to give him space, but Andrew placed his hand on the taller boy's neck. A silent command to stay. Neil is confused, but relaxes again. The to boys are nose to nose, and Neil can see as his eyes snap back in focus but his gears keep turning.
"Why don't you let the others see your scars? Why did you only show me?"Andrew says in a quiet whisper that is not Andrew-like at all.
Without skipping a beat, Neil answered.
"Because I trust you."
"But you trust them too."
"I guess, but not as much as I trust you. I suppose I never really thought about it. Should I? Are they expecting me too?"
After a moment of deliberating, Andrew speaks.
"Yes. They aren't expecting it, but you should."
"Why?"
"You said you don't trust them completely. Maybe that is because you are not sure they fully trust that you are okay. That they will always think you are broken."
"Maybe. I never took you for the thoughtful advice-giving one." Neil says, but his tone isn't a joking one. He is genuinely curious why this normally non-sensitive boy is giving him advice.
"I'm not." And with that his apathetic facade returns and he turns over so his back is facing Neil.
Then Neil's gears start turning. Could he do it? Did he trust his teammates, no, his family enough to let them see? He would be exposing himself infront of the people he loves. Yes. As he had realized before, 'He was their family, they were his. And they were worth every cut, and bruise, and scream.' And if he couldn't trust them, what kind of family was he that he would discard all they had given him, and give nothing in return. He could never repay them for that, but he could at least give them his trust.
"Tomorrow. I'll show them tomorrow."
"Okay" was Andrew's only response. And with that, the night was silent again, and Andrew and Neil both drifted off to a dreamless sleep with thoughts of tomorrow in their minds.
