We’ve asked the filmmakers for the 12th annual Oxford Film Festival the same five questions. Meet Andrew Kightlinger, director and writer of DESTROYER starring Alan Ruck. #1: In 140 characters or less, describe your movie and why someone should see it. A husband (Alan Ruck, Spin City) drives his wife out to the country with a mind for retribution. Anybody who's ever been in a failed relationship should see this. It's love and hatred (and pulp...literally) pouring from the screen. #2: Biggest lesson learned in getting the film made? Best part in getting the film made? Biggest Lesson? Good directing is essentially good casting. If you do that right, the actors will own the parts and all you have to do make adjustments. Best Part of the shoot? Watching the production designer rub oranges between their palms to make them juicer for Judith Hoag. Oh, and Alan Ruck's hula hoop. #3: Tell us about you. What is your movie making background? II was born and raised in Madagascar, then moved to South Dakota. Through all that crazy upbringing, I've wanted to be a filmmaker. I went to film school at Boston University and my first feature "Dust of War", a post-apocalyptic adventure yarn, is currently on VOD and will drop on DVD/Netflix in 2015. #4 What do you want the Oxford Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title or description? It's my Jagged Little Short Film. No, Dave Coulier didn't make my heart, but a broken heart was the bitter seed that bore this film. #5: What does the future hold in store for your film and for you? I'm directing TWO features in 2015. This will be a good year for creative wine. Learn more about the film festival and buy tickets to this movie at www.oxfordfilmfest.com
