Tonight #MerryAndBright premiered on @hallmarkchannel #CountdownToChristmas. It stars #JodieSweetin (Kate), the owner of Merry and Bright Candy Co. and #AndrewWalker (Gabe), a fast-talking corporate recovery expert sent to help the ailing company back on it’s feet. Kate has wonderful recipes for candy canes handed down from her grandmother and her newly inherited company relies on it’s seasonal candy cane sales but has only managed to break even. In comes Gabe sent from New York to help Kate get her affairs in order. He initially comes off a bit mansplain-y but what he lacks in merriment he makes up for in unmitigated candor. Gabe suggests a former client with deep pockets and a desire to invest in a small chocolate company. Kate has at least thrice explained that her business is candy canes and candy canes is what they do. Gabe persuades her to dig into her grandma’s old recipes and find something made of chocolate to present in the city. Gabe forgot to mention that Kate has to fly with her chocolates to New York to present them to the investor, so off she goes. He didn’t like them! His wife did and makes an offer to Kate to invest if she changes the name of her candy co. to “Merry And Bright CHOCOLATE Company.” Gabe, rather persistently, explained that Kate should take this deal or make a huge mistake. Kate wasn’t about to be the new fruitcake sellout so she sends a sample of her delectable candy canes in various flavors to the same company. Gabe returns to Kate’s town in time for the Christmas jubilee and before he could explain himself, Kate tells Gabe there is no place for his chocolate whining and that only candy canes would bounce out her doors. Gabe agreed and put her on the phone (without announcing he was on hold) with the investor who made her an offer for worldwide distribution of Merry and Bright candy canes. Not one to let an opportunity pass, Gabe slides onto the dance floor with Kate. We are transported to the near future where Gabe proposes and plants the most carnal kiss I’ve seen on Hallmark in a while. I was clutching my fleece pajamas! BOTTLE WITH LOVE. In this movie Bethany Joy Lenz plays this woman who works in the business world. She does well in the business world, but can't hold a boyfriend. While at a Wedding, her Aunt convinces her to write a letter to her love, and bare her soul. Then put in a bottle a toss into ocean. Andrew W. Walker finds it and begins correspond with her. As it turns out they are in the same town and works fir the same company. This a Hallmark movie, so you know how it ends. This was not a good Hallmark Movie. And, what is so sad, it has one of my favorite leading men is the Star Role -- Andrew Walker . Andrew W. Waler plays this restaurant owner, his Dad owned five Hart Restaurants. His Dad sold them to a Restaurant chain. The female stars comes in as a consultant to see that they upgrade to corporate standards. The son was unaware that Dad had sold the original restaurant . He is resistant to change.
