So, as y'all know, I'm 3 years into my HRT but have been having some issues.
My subq shots were bleeding more, and I had gotten a bit of a thudding heart and the shakes after injection. Wasn't sure if it was a side effect or my anxiety.
Switched to Androderm, and after a legit scare on the 5 mg patch/day, I downed it to the 2.5 mg patch every-other day. Got bloodwork done and nothing was alarming, but my T levels were significantly low. Off and on I've been having rushes and heightened heartrate, with the patches while also getting sudden stabbing pains in the middle of my chest.
After the bloodwork, my right arm was still sore 2 weeks after, and a patch on my right arm had made it feel bloaty, tingly and not right. The next application of my patch in my left arm had the small rush but went well for the while 24 hrs.
On Sat, I had called Nova Scotia's Registered Nurse line to ask questions about my right arm as it still looked fairly swollen, sore, andI had flashes of pain along my forearm and into my hand. It felt cold all day so, at the behest of the RN on the line, I left work to head to the emergency clinic. I waited from around 3 PM and didnt get out until probably 11:30ish PM.
While odd, the doc indicated that the bloodwork nurse probably had gone through the vein before pulling back to draw the blood, causing the blood to collect between the muscle and vein. This does not always cause bruising but can account as to why my arm was feeling so sore and irritated. He checked for blood clots and all was good.
Since it was far too late for me to put on my patch, I elected to wait until 9 pm yesterday to apply it.
I got the slight rush, which I breathed through, but the chest pain came back off and on, and was accompanied by nausea which promptly caused me to vomit. The patch hadn't been on for a whole 10 minutes.
Understandably, my spouse is getting pretty tired of these scares, as she feels my anxiety is causing me to have symptoms worse than I should be having. We both had an odd concoction of food, so she figures it was from that as she was also a little I'll feeling herself.
She is supportive of me finding an application method that is right, but she has also pointed out that any time something slightly poor happens, I switch methods. I went from IM, to SubQ, to Patches. If these don't work for me, the only other option is the gel. After that I have no method left except going back to subq injections.
I guess what I am trying to say is.. is this my anxiety? Or is this a bad reaction to the Androderm Patch? Am I having a poor reaction because of how low my T Levels have gotten?
Or.. am I growing intolerant of Testosterone? Is that even possible?
I have an appointment coming up with a doc in the city regarding my transition. I definitely will be asking them about this to get a clearer picture of what I should be experiencing and what I can do to help the symptoms.
Any and all comments from other fellas are welcome.
