FUN FACT:
Android nougat has its own version of Atsume Neko as the easter egg installed within the o.s. Leave food on the empty dish and later your phone will ding if a cat came to eat the food. You can name the cats and I'm so excited to be a cat lady. Happy Collecting!!!!
Apparently all it took to properly root my new phone was several weeks of ineffective digging and dealing with the obnoxious and finicky KingRoot, accidently wiping the /system directory while in recovery, reflashing the stock ROM so I had a bootable phone again, and then properly installing TWRP again and having it install SuperSU.
Lesson here: don't try to tech when you're thoroughly exhausted.
Just spent about £32 on music from iTunes... iTunes card well spent :D
3 days with the Nexus 6P
I got the Nexus 6P on March 15th in the late afternoon (when I got home from work around 5:30). I had ordered the 128GB Graphite variant from the Canadian Google Store with Nexus Protect for 50$ off (special store birthday sale) which is still a huge investment. First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box is how heavy it is! If you like a phone with heft this might be the one for you. I set it up by NFC tapping my LG G4 to it. There were updates to do right away but I waited for all my apps to download first. I then did my updates and signed myself into all my apps. Took me a long time cause I have LOTS of apps. The display is awesome, I've turned on sRGB mode in Developer Options cause I like taking photos so color accuracy is kind of important to me. Also as nice as the oversaturation was on my homescreen it was not ideal for video consumption. I also turned on the battery percentage in System UI Tuner. I've been using the phone as my daily driver ever since. The next day I received my Spigen Rugged Armor case I had ordered off of Amazon Canada and a Inskin Tempered Glass screen protector. The case cost me about 15$ and the screen protector 11$. I tried the case on right away. It doesn't add much bulk and helps me feel safer about putting the phone down on rough surfaces. Also I find the aluminium eventually feels sticky so I'm not a fan of holding the phone naked for a long period of time. Biggest downside is that it does make the phone tougher to slip into a back pocket. I installed the screen protector using the steamy room technique and I'm glad to report there are no bubbles and there would be no dust if I had been more careful about dust. Unfortunately there is one tiny cloth particle underneath. The protector looks very good and is non obtrusive (as is the case). I don't like the feel on the surface of it though, it seems sticky to me. Also it's very light reflective which gets annoying and the oleophobic coating on it doesn't work very well. I might remove it. I really like my case though! So far performance has been great! I've got lots of apps installed (lots of background running stuff too). I use a lot of social media and take way too many photos. I'm a "very heavy usage" sort of person, like way above average and it's doing pretty good for me (in fact I'm writing this on the phone right now). Battery life was only average at first but last night I did a reset (suggested by my boyfriend because of the updates) and it's been much better today! I use bluetooth constantly because I have a Moto 360 smartwatch and I used to have always sync on for my Fitbit Flex (turned it off this morning). The speakers are great! If I set my ringtone volume to maximum it allows me to hear it even in a loud place! So far I've really been enjoying this device. Things I'd say I miss from the G4 are double tap to wake, the leather back, the pocket-a-bility, the Marshmallow feature of app pining in the multi-task menu and the close all apps button. Everything else has really been an upgrade. The vibration is short but strong and in a way high-pitched? Not like in sound but in feel. The way a short high pitched sound might feel on a speaker surface I guess. The camera has been great, I want to find a good manual camera app to use with it. The speakers are wonderful for media consumption (which I like to do). The battery is still stabilizing I think so it's hard to say. Screen responsiveness is great. I haven't had Wi-Fi or bluetooth connection issues. Just an all around great device! It does feel really premium but also really fragile (at least to me). I guess it's because of how premium it is, that just makes me more afraid of breaking it (like holding a 1000$ or more iPhone). Stock Android has been great to me so far as well. I'll probably report back in like a week or something.
Wait, so almost everyone except Jimin and Jin are using iPhones now? Those 2 better not change to iPhones too or I'll be really sad.
Just got an #iPhone 5C for work... Were you all aware there's no back button on these things?! How do you even navigate?
