...and here's the Arc book of translations of the Bulgarian poets, plus original poetry in English by their translators. Again, it was designed to be something different from a straightforward book of translations: more an encounter between eight poets than a one directional anthology. So the original poems in English focus on the encounter with Bulgarian writers and culture, and with the estrangement and rehoming of travel.
Happy Baba Marta Day! This is the cover of Four Norths, an anthology of four North East-based poets (Andy Croft, Linda France, me, and Mark Robinson) translated by four Bulgarian poets, Kristin Dimitrova, Georgi Gospodinov, Nadya Radulova, and VBV (Vassil Vidinski), and due out in Sofia this summer. It is the companion volume to a set of translations of those same Bulgarian poets by those same Northern poets, which appeared from Arc in 2007, and itself marked the culmination of several years of engagement between the North East and Bulgaria. It was always my convoluted masterplan that there be two mirror vols, but the wheels and gears, as you know, turn exceeding slow... In the meantime, though, hurrah!
