Nancy couldn’t stop gazing at the sky and just having little to no conversation with the person whom she choose to spend this late evening with. She rested her head on top of her arm as the other one draped across her stomach.
“-and then Holly just spat up all the juice and it even came out of her-” Then she saw a flash across the sky. “-Jonathan look! A shooting star.” She sat up and without looking away patted the ground beside her and tapped his chest as if to get his attention to the sky they were already looking at.
“Did you see that!?”
Eyes gazed off at the dark sky, with its freckled patterns of lights. Jonathan wished he could remember their names, the stories behind the constellations they made up. Will knew them all, always made sure to tell him each one. But Jonathan could never keep track.
Hands behind his head, elbows out, but with enough room between them that he wasn’t in Nancy’s space. Lips rested in a light smile, entertained by the story Nancy had started. Interrupted as she tried to get his attention, eyes searching to try and trace the light she was seeing. A shake of the head and then he was sitting up with her, arms rested over bent knees. “Ah, no... you’ve gotta make a wish though.” That’s what Will always insisted on, some good luck or something in the shooting stars.
