Oh. Oooh, this was bad.

Well, not this, per se. This wasn’t bad at all. Who was she to complain when she was still entangled with Miss Maggie May, the most-fucking-adorable teacher she’d ever met. Somewhere Hot For Teacher was playing in the back of her mind.

It was only that--well, she was a teacher. Her son’s, to be precise. Talk about awkward Parent-Teacher conferences. She was a mother. She was supposed to behave herself, for crying out loud.

Suddenly, Molly snorted to herself, and glanced sidelong at Maggie’s curious look. She ultimately decided to bury her face against Maggie’s throat. It hid the blush.

“Maggie May, Molly McKie. If nothing else, it’s good alliteration.”

GIMMEGIMME LEMONY NAUTICA FACTS

-Listen we know that Molly is Nautica’s First, but it’s impossible to overstate how unprepared Nautica was for it. She was always a romance-first kind of person, and a lot of those romantic stories and movies that she liked best kind of… faded to black before they got to those bits. Or they were about women being with men and she skipped over them lol. So her first time with Molly is A Lot and she probably didn’t sleep that night because she was just going over all of it in her brain

-Absolutely terrible at dirty talk herself and not super comfortable with be on the receiving end of it, except in that way Molly has where it’s less about the innuendo and more about the bad pun she’s making on the way to the innuendo. I wouldn’t say that’s a turn-on for Nautica exactly, but it does make her feel comfortable, and that’s more important as a first step to getting her in bed.

-Would rather be held down than be on top. Pin her to the bed/wall, lay on top of her, tie her down, basically just sandwich her between you and something else. It makes her feel more secure.]

Captain Truck Ross Maintains the balance between legitimate and illegitimate business, with final say over all jobs. An unshakably good and moral man who shares very little of his past, yet manages to win the trust of most people he meets. A good-natured enigma.

Bridget Sousa, Navigation & Diplomacy Works out the kinks of smuggling alongside legitimate cargo (and occasionally passenger) transport. Intimate knowledge of bribery, flattery, blackmail, and getting the crew where they need to go, one way or another. Cynical, with a demanding and sometimes abrasive personality, Bridget nonetheless will defend her crewmates to the death.

Stas Petrenko, Quartermaster Stas manages supplies, does all the cooking, and mediates disputes and disagreements before they get bad enough to involve the Captain. Known for enjoying the local hospitality of every port, he believes in experiencing everything life has to offer; he is an unfailing optimist. Stas and Boomerang share the same religious faith but hold very different beliefs.

Teresa “Boomerang” Delgado, Engineer & Enforcer Aside from the Captain, Boomerang is the ship’s strongest fighter, although she would rather spend time wrestling with mechanical problems than with people. Her Catholic faith gives her a strong moral compass, but she also has a tendency to judge others--particularly Stas--by her own standards. Boomerang prefers the company of the Captain, as Bridget’s sharp tongue always manages to hit on her insecurities, and Stas’s combination of hedonism and unfailing kindness can make her uncomfortable.

Molly McKie, Stowaway & Anthropologist An as-yet unknown quantity to the crew, who know they have a stowaway but have disagreed about whether to track her down or simply leave her be.

Ooh, talk to me about molly changing up her wardrobe after nautica!

This is especially evident with the longer they date. Molly has always been a punk kid, and I think she always will be? She’s always felt more comfortable in torn jeans and faded tees, and once that leather jacket fell into her hands, it was like she reached her final upgrade and grew into the best version of Molly. Really, as much as the leather jacket is part of her identity, it’s also a security blanket for her? It’s safe. It’s familiar. It’s home. It’s a defense against everything else; as long as she has it on, she’s invincible.

When she meets Nautica, she’s still relying on the jacket as a sort of barrier. It scares her, to like someone as quickly as she does with Nautica, and to realize Nautica feels the same way. It’s also very difficult when Nautica isn’t ready to come out to her family. She understands...she does. But it still leaves a thin barrier between them.

The longer they date, Molly needs that security blanket less and less. She’s still a dirty punk, but she’s incorporating more bright colors and patterns. She wears Nautica’s favorite color, adopts part of her style. It feels good. Feels right. She can still be herself and adapt the style to suit her, but it’s not as hard as she appeared before. She doesn’t need to be.

Unfortunately, when Nautica leaves, Molly once again feels like she needs the barrier. So, she leaves behind silk and suede and picks up the faded tees and leather again. It feels better.

The young queen’s first thought hadn’t been to call for the guards–though, in hindsight, that probably would have been a better idea. No, when the hand covered her mouth, its owner shielded by the shadow, Molly’s first thought was to defend herself. The General had taught her well. So had being an older sister.

She grabbed hold of the hand, the arm and spun about to twist the arm behind the offender’s back.
