Ang Low - “If I Slipped”
Ang Low is an artist who originated from Tacoma, WA, but has been residing in Brooklyn for the last several years where he’s been carving out his own effervescent fusion of soul, R&B, dancehall, and synth-pop music. On the surface, it sounds radiant, but beyond the bounce of the beat and light particles, there’s more substance behind his songs than just the vibe. You can check out the prolific nature of that over on his Bandcamp page.
His latest single “If I Slipped” is being released into the world on the great NYC underground collective House of Feelings, and comes on the heels of a darker period in his life where he served a prison sentence and turned to songwriting while being incarcerated as the only outlet to keep focus on the future afterward. Still, the slope of what brought him there bleeds through the neon. “Streets leave you feeling like a sinner / Letting my guard down to be a winner,” he sings. His bounce back is like reclaiming how to be breathe again. Listen below...
