random questions for character building (and fun)
a song that describes them?
oh boy, FUN FACT. charlie’s entire character was based on this song called “always gold” by radical face, which you can listen to here. it’s about two people, one who’s ‘steady as a hammer’ and the other who’s ‘the crooked kind / has no worth’, and obviously charlie is the second one!!
but beside this one that is like, literally his basis, another song that fits him is what i like to think is the companion piece to it? it’s “the crooked kind”, also by radical face, which you can listen to here (and is the source for his blog title!).
and so i can make this like a trilogy sort of thing, “the mute” which is ALSO by radical face is another super charlie song, especially with regards to his childhood/growing up. you can listen to that here!!
SO IN ORDER, IF THESE SONGS WERE MOVIES, chronological order would be The Mute, then Always Gold, then The Crooked Kind. HAHAHA.
are they close to their family?
NOPE. charlie left home at age 20 and never looked back! after being emotionally abused by his father and his older brothers and having a mother who didn’t try fighting for him out of fear of her husband, he just felt there was nothing for him to return home for. he didn’t go back for any of his brothers’ weddings, didn’t go back when his dad was sick, didn’t go to his funeral... and the last bit with his dad dying actually fucks him up A LOT, he’s just trying not to show it. :(
also, every time he has to deal with alastair & aspen’s stuff regarding each other he literally has no idea what a healthy parent-child relationship is or what a parent is even supposed to do, so he’s constantly confused and out of his depth. IT’S GREAT. lana talked to him about her dad too and he was just like YEAH, I DON’T UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS, BUT I’LL BULLSHIT IT ANYWAY.
what is their vice? (wrath, greed, pride, lust, gluttony, sloth, envy)
probably a mix of wrath and pride, but wrath moreso now that he’s going through therapy? he’s got a lot of anger in there from his childhood and his own self-hatred and all of that. :( it used to be pride because he used to not give a shit about other people and their well-beings and would use them for his own selfish needs and then throw them away after, with this convoluted excuse of “no-one cherishes me/thinks about me/tries to understand me, so why should i try?”.
right now he’s still pretty selfish, but he’s working on it! and is at least not as obvious about it/indulging in it as he was before, oop.
opinion on pets? cats or dogs?
EITHER. but he has a dog now because she’s a lot more open and honest about her feelings, and dogs have a more obvious love language than cats do for him. charlie’s not good at noticing subtleties in body language, so a cat would probably just confuse him.
the dog also allows him to go outside to walk her. otherwise he’d just be a vampire who goes out at night and then stays in his room hissing at the sun in the daytime...
he loves all pets generally, though. part of him wants budgies so he can teach them little tricks.
do they have tattoos or piercings?
he has these on his right hand!
and he used to have piercings on both ears, so there’re still the ~remnants of where the holes were (four on his left, three on his right). he doesn’t wear earrings any more, though.
