Angela Ro Ro, a Brazilian lesbian singer, songwriter, and pianist, has passed away at the age of 75. She sang about love and was one of the biggest names in Brazilian MPB , heavily influenced by blues and jazz artists. She struggled with many challenges, including financial problems, alcohol, and drug addiction, throughout her life.
My mother met her a few times... she said Angela was funny and very talented, but something always went wrong and she couldn't have a stable career.
Thank you for everything, Angela. If I want to sing about how much I love women now, it's partly because I heard you doing the same thing at a time when no one wanted to come out.
Rest in power.
