Biography:
Angelena was the product of an affair between Keith Phillips and his mistress Helen. Both of her parents were married, but when Keith was in town, they shacked up. This resulted 2 years into their affair with Angelena. Her mother tried to convince her step father that Lena was his, but he didn’t believe her, the problems in their marriage having kept them apart at the time she got pregnant. Keith denied fathering the child as well, for a few years, at least, and when her mother finally convinced him, he refused to have anything to do with Lena until her surname matched his. Her mother, just to spite him, had it and her birth certificate changed.
Lena felt torn as a child, between two families. Her mother’s side took primary care of her, her father wanted little to do with her, his wife despised the child, and influenced Lena’s older half brother Teddy to do the same. When she was introduced to Teddy’s cousins for the first time, he told her that they weren’t her cousins, because they were his mom’s nieces and nephews. The child was heartbroken by this statement, but the cousins never treated her any different. She grew close to them and loved them dearly. Still, much of her childhood was spent trying to figure out the logistics of her family.
On her mother’s side, she had cousins and two half brothers, though she never referred to them as half-anything. They were whole, even if their father wasn’t the same as her own. They were always there for them when she needed them and never threw it in her face that she was the product of a wrongdoing. Lena was always wanted by them, even if it wasn’t always reflected by their parents.
By the time she turned 8 and Teddy was 13, he had warmed up to her. Starting to come to terms with the fact that it wasn’t Lena’s fault, and realizing his parents were not the greatest. The two were much closer after that, but her two half brothers on her mother’s side were much closer to her. She adores all of three them.
Being as social and friendly as she was, Angelena made a lot of friends in school, including Connor, Hayley, Cam, and Kasim. She had 1 relationship in High School, but prior to that, she had had a crush on Kasim. Unfortunately, he had feelings for her cousin, Josie. Angelena kept her feelings to herself and dated someone else. The relationship lasted for nearly 2 years, but distance from college put an end to it.
Lena went to college to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy and was in a sorority. She had a few relationships between the start of college and now, including a toxic one that lasted for 3 years and almost caused her to quit school. Despite this, she still wears her heart on her sleeve and tries to see the best in others.
Angelena is the type of woman that will surprise a friend with food or coffee, or something she saw while shopping simply because it made her think of them. She tries to befriend most everyone that she meets. She has been known to do crazy and fun things, like streaking in college, helping friends with pranks, dancing on tables at parties, and getting into chaos with others. She has stayed out of legal trouble, however, most things she has done have been harmless and, for the most part, legal.
She decided to live at Sunrise Arms while she pays off her college loans in order to be close to her grandparents on her father’s side and connect with her brother Teddy some more. It is while she’s been living there that she has made friends with Antonio, whom she has developed feelings for over their shared time in the apartments.
