23. What motivates you in life?

I'm not good at all about self-motivating. The best way to get me to do something is either make it fun, make it on behalf of someone I care about, or tell me I'm too chicken to it. I love fun, I'd move heaven and earth to help a friend or avoid disappointing someone I respect, and I usually can't resist a spur-of-the-moment dare.

24. What was something you used to enjoy, but was ruined for you? What’s the story behind that?

Well there are TV shows and movies I used to like but can't watch any more, but that's a silly subject. A more serious answer is soccer and softball. I played both from the time I was 6 yrs old, but my high school soccer coach killed my love of the game through a system of neglect and derision. And my sophomore year of college a grounder took a bad hop during warm-ups and hit me in the mouth. ER, 3 stitches, emergency dental work, root canal, the whole nine yards. I had to play the rest of the season wearing a face cage on my batting helmet and mouth guard in the field, but it didn't really matter because I completely lost my nerve and couldn't keep my head down when going for the ball, so I was pretty much useless as an infielder. I haven't played either sport in a decade or so.

29. What’s something that scares you about the future?

Looking back when I'm 40 or 50 and asking where the time went and why I didn't do what I wanted to with my life.

11. What is the strangest thing you have in your room? (You are not allowed to explain why you own it.)

Hrmm, strange for me, or strange for regular people? People who've never met me would probably be concerned by the bat'leth hanging on the wall. People who know me would raise an eyebrow at my moderately-sized collection of nailpolish.

13. What would you consider to be the biggest insult to yourself?

Most of the insulting things people have said about me that are true are things I've already said to myself. Honestly, the one that hurt my feelings the most is someone told me I was a bad singer. I'm really kinda sensitive about that.

24. What celebrity do you idolize the most?

Idolize is a tricky word. I don't really have idols. There are celebrities whose work and skill I admire, and celebrities I'm attracted to, but I have to know someone pretty well before I respect them as a person. Off the top of my head probably the closest is Angelina Jolie. I like her acting, I find her attractive, and all of her humanitarian work and adopting kids in need and basically not giving a fuck if people think she's weird or different, I can respect that.

14. Craziest thing you've ever done?

I think it's a tie between Rev's Spontaneous Adventure #2 and Rev's Spontaneous Adventure #4, both of which involved buying a spur-of-the-moment plane ticket, flying to a different part of the country, showing up unannounced at party/event my friends were attending, hanging out with them, then flying home again within 24 hours. RSA #2 was a great success. RSA #4 was an unmitigated disaster for reasons that are completely my fault.

Someone I miss and why.

I can't go with the person who first comes to mind for a couple reasons.

And so after that, answering the question becomes kinda tricky because I'm good at not missing people. It's a defense mechanism, the way my brain partitions off and compartmentalizes the things I don't want to deal with. I don't miss people, like my brothers, until I see them, or talk to them, and I'm reminded of how long it's been since I've seen them or spoken to them. It's ironic, that seeing or speaking to someone is what makes me miss them. Then once they've gone away again, I push those feelings out of my mind and go back to being ok.

I guess that's a long and convoluted way of saying, besides the person who first sprang to mind, my brain works in such a way that I don't miss people. Because my brain is a strange place.

* What did you dream about in the last dream you can recall?

It was within the past few days. I was basically just playing Call of Duty in my sleep. Normally I'd say "I blame Rae for this", but it was kinda fun, so... ;)

_ What did the last intense conversation you have involve?

Technically I think my rant to you and a couple other people about Tumblr anons and what caused my rant in the first place might count, but if you mean something that bears on my personal life, then it involved me, the girl I was kind of seeing, and why she didn't want to see me anymore. (You might have noticed, that was around the time my Tumblr got very angsty and melodramatic.)

pardon my ignorance again (perhaps?) but is having so many followers really that important? I mean, i don't care who follows and if nobody follows, so be it! there are certain people in the various platforms who i wouldn't like to lose because i consider them "friends" as much as one can in the internet (i truly believe you can still get a vibe about someone even in the net). but i guess my question is, is my not caring considered unacceptable in this world?

It's totally acceptable. There are some people who care about follower count and then there are others who couldn't be bothered because they believe it's their blog and they're entitled to post whatever they want. (Not to say people who care about follower count don't believe that, but since I don't, their motivations are fuzzier to me)

I personally fall in the second camp. If someone doesn't like what I post, then they don't have to read it. If they don't like most of the things I post, then they can unfollow me. I appreciate my followers. It's nice to feel that there are X number of people who think I might have something neat to say or pretty to post. But I'd still have my Tumblr even if I had no followers. That's not why I'm here.My issue with the Anon wasn't with them following me or not, it was the hypocrisy (they came onto my page, incognito, left a bitchy little note about how they were going to block me when either they never followed me in the first place, or did, but had no intention of unfollowing me) and the cowardice (it's fucking juvenile to sneak around saying things anonymously that they apparently don't have the balls to say out in the open).And beyond the hypocrisy and cowardice, getting back to the "it's my blog" part, I decided to disable anonymous comments because it is my blog, and I don't want to put up with that shit. As an example, if UberGleek508 has an issue with me shipping Brittana, and feels so personally offended by my reblogging photos of them that they need to go to my Ask box and tell me about it, then they can do so, using their name. I will disagree with them, and if they become a nuisance about it, I will block them, because again, it's my blog, and I don't have to put up with that if I don't want to.

And it's just common courtesy. I don't go looking for Bartie Tumblrs and then reblog their photos with Brittana comments, or leave snarky comments in their Ask box, either named or anonymous, telling them that their opinion is wrong. I'm not saying everyone has to agree with me. I'm not even saying that everyone who follows me has to agree with me. But the great thing about the internet is that I don't have to put up with negative stuff if I don't want to. I'm free to ignore whoever I want. Not allowing anonymous comments lets me know who to ignore.

Sorry, that kinda got away from me there, and I'm not even sure if what I started ranting about what the original aim of your question. To bulletpoint your actual questions:

I agree you can get vibes from people online. I have many online friends.

It is in Tumblr as it is in life: popularity is important to some and not to others. And there's enough people here that you can hang with the people who don't care (like you do), and not be bothered by the people who do (mostly)
