the children can sense it too
Angels and Demons both have distinct courtship rituals but Lucifer, due to being in Hell so long, has taken on some of the mindset/behaviors of the demons and, when courting Chloe, doesn’t realize he is incorporating demon courtship with angel courtship. The result is a highly bizarre and interesting mix.

Lucifer displays simple illnesses in a different way to humans so it takes Chloe a while to figure out something is wrong. He walks slowly like he's dazed, hunched over, becomes confused and loses concentration (which is mistaken for him deliberately not paying attention and makes people annoyed). He pulls the classic sick bird in the flock moves of isolating himself and eating, drinking and sleeping less. How does Chloe eventually figure it out? By using a website giving information on how to recognize illness in chickens.

Angels have certain instincts ingrained in their species- neurotic need for cleanliness/neatness, extreme protectiveness/possessiveness over people and things they consider “theirs,” and an extreme fascination/obsession/are easily distracted by anything shiny. Cutting off his wings muted these instincts somewhat (but not completely, because these are all obviously innately “Lucifer” traits) but now that the wings are back, so are the angel instincts- full force.
