9/2021: Lake Havasu City, AZ!

I am back, did you miss me? It was only for a couple of days, I would of loved to stay more like a week and get the boat out but a couple of days is a blessing too! What did I do as a local in my home away from home? 

We left Saturday morning, traffic wasn't too bad. We met up with our friends out there, had dinner at Angelina’s. It is a great little hole in the wall place, it opens up at 3 pm and you have to call and make a reservation, because by the time we get there for our reservation at 6-its bar seating only. Crazy huh? It’s good food, if you go there, don’t leave without a cannoli. We spent way too many hours playing farkle for money and then calling it a night. 

Sunday morning we go to Secrets of Beauty Salon (formerly known as Hollywood Styles) where everyone in the party got their hair done by the only gal I trust with my hair. The photo below does not show the masterpiece well, but I kept the same cut and have four colors in my hair. It is amazing and I am in love with it! Brandi, the gal that owns the shop, cut my grandmothers hair with this new technique I had never seen before and it was amazing. After we had a late lunch/early dinner at a place called the Wet Clam. Yes I know what you are thinking, if you go into a place called “The wet clam” (even if it is for seafood) expect “thats what she said” vibes. The menu was so playful. The fish was pretty good but a little too fried, and with a new sense of spirit-I tried alligator. It was not bad. Round two of farkle followed, and I won my money back! 

Monday morning we slept in and had some nice breakfast at Makai’s. Its a cute little local place, with a reliable breakfast and some special things like apple waffles. Since I am normally keto back home, I had more of an “appropriate” of steak and eggs and all the fixings. We ran some errands, as grandma owns the condo up there so it needs the same maintenance any house would. We would end up watching 4 different hallmark movies. Yes I know, dangerous for two women alone, related on top of that, to watch four of those in one day. I can hear Gastón now “Women starts to get ideas and thinking”. The full moon in pisces was monday and I have never seen a moon so orange. After getting gas at $3.03/gallon, we had an early dinner at Javelina Cantina, very very very good mexican food. Went to bed by a reasonable hour, since we were driving home the next day. 

We got up by a reasonable hour on Tuesday and hit the road, stopping for a “on the road” frostie from Wendys. It was about a four hour drive home, there was a lot more construction going back than there was going to. It looked like they were adding a shoulder to the road and flattening the beautiful desert landscape in between the roads. But we made good time. It was nice to get out for a couple of days. 

There are plans to go back in October for a short time and possibly for a longer time in November. I am excited at the prospect of a lot more of the family going up for a weeks time for a holiday, bring it on! In the mean time, I missed my furbabies and need to make some good stuff happen here. Who knows, I may even find myself up there on the next full moon! Weirder things have happened.
