Baby Fever and the Like || Journal

So, this thing that they call baby fever - how the hell does it work?  Is it contagious?  Because I know that seeing Angelo with the children at the center and with the baby that we recently looked after was... magical?  Like - I love seeing Gabs with her precious little one and Que is already so excited for her second chance at motherhood with the man she loves, which makes it pretty damn sweet to behold, too... but the feeling that I had when I see MY husband being all fatherly is something else, and I really love that feeling.

The truth is, I have always wanted to be a mommy.  I've always wanted to be a wife and mother and pet owner and career woman and fun lady, all rolled up into one.  Now, I did go through a phase where love, marriage and motherhood were off of my radar, but I think that all of those things were still buried deep in my heart, somewhere.

Gabby got pregnant, first and now she's about to get married, so she has all of her ducks in a row on the kind of goals that I have.  I got engaged before Que, but she and Puck rushed off and eloped, now, they're expecting a kid.  So, once again, Que's got the ducks in a row, too.  I got engaged and had no intentions of getting married any time soon, but as things happened in Angel's life with his dad's sickness and stuff, we decided to go ahead and get married as soon as I could get everything planned out.  Not having a wedding simply wasn't an option for me.

So, it was small, but fancy.  My parents and their church paid for everything except for the transportation of the guests to San Jose, and we have a wonderful marriage.  Our marriage is better than even our brief period of time that we dated, before tying the knot.  But, there's no baby on board and I feel like I'm probably not ready to start... but then again, I felt like I probably wasn't ready to start dating when I fell in love.  I felt like I probably wasn't ready to promise forever when I said yes to his proposal.  i felt like I probably wasn't ready to become a wife when I said "I do."  I haven't felt ready for one thing, yet and yet, I have BEEN ready and haven't regretted anything...  This requires some more thought.  I think he gave me this baby fever that they speak of and my mom's saying things like, "You know that they come in threes..."  Woman, stahp.

Lacey:  *Stares at her feet for a long time, trying to decide on her simple sneakers or the heels.  She can wear heels any time, any place and they go with the gift, but until then... they don't QUITE go with the rest of the outfit.  Maybe if she put on a beret?  Laughs at herself.  Why am I so nervous?  I can trust him and he... cares about me...  She finally put on the heels and threw her stuff into the back pockets of her jeans - actually opting not to bring a bag or a clutch tonight.  She goes to meet up with him*
