Fear of losing something important
"Sir." The small one pulled at his supposedly Guardian Angel's clothes. "Do you know God?"
Vanitas froze for one moment, his muscles clenched tightly. He didn't expect such question coming, not at all if the Angel to be honest. So why now? Why all this sudden? The dark Angel disliked getting remembered those painful memories of what happened long ago a lot.
But his little Boy wasn't to blame. In fact, Vanitas gave himself fault for this in some ways more or less. Perhaps getting remembered over and over again served as punishment. Just like he was used to it. The dark Angels front and longest feathers slightly ruffled up to sharp uncomfortable spiky feathers.
Still, the black winged Angel willed himself to cage away such emotions, he wouldn't need them anyway.
Vanitas kneeled down onto Ventus' height, gold eyes softened their gaze by the sight of his innocent sunshine. "Yes... I was Gods closest and best guardian. I've known him for many centuries. But some day he.. vanished. You see, Gods can't die but... When Mortals start to forget the Gods, they're starting to fade away slowly."
As soon as the older male walked to him, Ventus gave him his brightest smile. The five year old boy promptly stood up, no even saying 'Hi' and instead grabbing Vanitas by his hands, pulling him. "Sir, Sir, there's a new one, come see, come see!" He beamed, bouncing like the happy child he was and pointing to another flower in the distance.
Vanitas couldn't hide the little but bright smile when Ventus in child form pulled the much taller and stronger Angel along out to the little ones garden, gladly followed him without complaining so he could see those new flowers too.
It warmed Vanitas usually dark and hollow heart to see his former God, now as child, innocent. Young. Without care, without pain. He couldn't really describe what that feeling was called. But it felt.. warm. And Vanitas was grateful for it, secretly. Some very little parts of the Angels feathers fell off and float through the air, before they landed on Vens grassy garden.
"Alright alright little one, I'm coming. You saw some very interesting flowers this time? Even more beautiful than your blue favourites, Ventus? Okay then, I wanna see them too. Especially since you take care of them.", Vanitas replied, golden eyes shining warm through the sun and warm feelings they carried inside.
