TW: Talk of animal death
today on my way into work i saw a doe. She was facing the road, watching me pass her by.
the crows had surrounded her body, and the coyotes had feasted on her torso.
im so torn, because i work on agricultural land, and i know her body wont be put to waste by the wilderness, but my ancestors have taught me to bring honour and respect to those who pass on.
to put her somewhere private, where animals can still feast, but we cant see her.
i know by know she’s probably frozen to the snow, and covering her with snow will just cause her to be desecrated by spring.
i hope she had no fear before she passed on, but her eyes are wide open, and i cant help to think the worse.
i hope mother brings you the honour i cannot provide you tuttu mikiruq.
