catherine accompanied her fiance, prince william, arrived in wales for their first of four pre-marriage days of engagements in the uk. william’s work with the raf was based at the nearby raf valley and anglesey, the setting for the day, was the couple’s rented home and would eventually become their home as a newly married couple.

the couple were greeted by excited crowds, before they embarked on their task. the prince gave a speech before miss middleton cracked open a bottle of champagne on the lifeboat to christen it. as this was the first official appearance of the couple after their engagement announcement, the event was heavily covered in the press worldwide.

catherine wore a recycled katherine hooker coat, as well as russell and bromley books and a pashmina scarf. she also wore a fascinator by vivien sheriff millinery, decorated with the insignia of the royal welsh fusiliers.
