TLDR IRISH - ENGLISH TROUBLES, WHY I NAMED MYSELF GAELIC SAXON
So my name is Gaelic Saxon, the reason for this is that my family name is saxon and most of my family has lived in England since they traveled there from the germanic territories about a thousand years ago, one part of that family then traveled to Ireland, I happen to have been born in England just like my great grand father on my fathers side and like most of his ancestors while my father and his father were born in Ireland.
So what prompted this post? Well I was listening to Irish radio this morning with my mother(her lineage is actually Scottish for anyone wondering, her great grand father on her fathers side moved do Ireand and thats how she happened.. Well thats the start of how she happened long before she was born)
So she was listening to Irish radio and there was a debate about whether Irish people should take English awards such as OBE's or knighthoods or the like. The presenters overall were quite against it as were the people emailing and or texting in. Most were hanging onto the, "fuck the English" mentality that is shockingly still around. The Brits actually gave the Ireland 7 billion as a loan when Ireland went basically bankrupt, but I dont know if anyone actually knows or remembers that... They will also loan them 3.25 billion as of Oct. last year.
Culturally the two countries are linked, there is absolutely no denying that. They mythology the habits, the mindset, the humour, the food... Some of the main differences are that for some reason, England is and always was massively more culturally diverse than Ireland. The breadth of difference is quite easy to spot, if you walk around any part of the UK you will meet people who are not white and whose grandfathers could have lived on the same street or the street around the corner, Britain has long been a collection of countries that has taken people in. Including the Irish.
The Islands around the British isles including the Islands that make up Ireland are linked and in my opinion should be linked together again, not as they were exactly but they should be linked at least economically and politically in some way too, people have been moving back and forth between the two groups of Islands for about 5 thousand years for fucks sake.
The fact that one Island seemed to be more prosperous and organised and carved out at its height, the largest empire that the world has ever seen, in case your wondering that amounts to 1/4 of the worlds land mass, (just let that sink in for a second, 1/4 of the world land mass) has always been a sore and sticking point as lets face it, the other island was a part of it. Even in a two horse race there has to be a loser no matter how fine the line is or how close the photo finish is, one has to lose.
So one union of countries that has achieved so much being the first industrialised country of the world, the first country to create computing, World police before the US started doing it, honours another then whats the big fucking deal?
I have family that was in the IRA just like every other Irish person alive(yes that includes all the Irish descendants that are in all the other countries that they migrate on mass to when the stupid ignorant politician screw things up every few tens of years) but I also am not afraid to say that my family was also in the British army, if more Irish people were to admit it, they would also tell you that their family was also in the British army too, if they dared the social disgrace of it.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THEIR FUCKING PROBLEM ANYWAYS?? Theyre fathers werent subjugated or opressed by the brits unless theyre fathers were middle aged in 1916(the "rising")
