Squabble
For some time past there has been a conflict between Mr. Jesse R. Grant, Postmaster of Covington (Ky.) Post Office, and Mr. Shadford Easton, special agent in charge. Mr. Grant is very old and is paralyzed in one side, and yet he will not relinquish the office, although the President has written requesting him to resign. Affairs reached a crisis on Saturday, when Mr. Grant undertook to interfere with Mr. Easton’s duties in paying the clerks. Easton seized the old gentleman by the arms and thrust him out of the office into the street. The outrage was witnessed by a crowd of citizens of Covington, assembled at the time for their mail, and was severely commented on by all.
