Hey, I'm not sure if you do answer asks or not but I just wanted to say I love your artstyle a lot. As a fellow artist I was wondering if you perhaps some tips on getting better at shading and lighting and the placement of it. Also just a bonus question, I was wondering if you do commissions? I don't have the money for one, but I was simply curious. Also, I apologize my ask was so long.

First of all thank you! Also, don’t worry about your ask being “long”, it’s completely fine ✌️

I’ll just put my commission prices here, they’re linked in my FAQ as well. Closed at the time, but yeah.

As for tips… I don’t really have a “technique” if that makes sense? As dumb as it sounds, I just draw what looks right to me… One thing that makes shading more easier for me, just so I don’t get distracted by all the colours, is clipping a white layer to the drawing, so it looks like this:

That makes it easier for me to shade, because then there’s no colours and I can focus more.As for where shading goes… I kind of imagine where the main light source would be and work from that.

I don’t care too much about accuracy, so it’s still all over the place and I just put shading where I think it belongs, but that could help for getting an overall feel of it.

Oh, and I remove the lineart layer to check for myself sometimes. If the drawing still “makes sense” without colours and lineart it should be good, there’s not too  much and not too less shading.

You can still make out some shapes and see where things go. This should actually work for every other picture as well, I’m just too lazy to pull out old drawings haha

There’s that, I never went to art school, I don’t really know what I’m doing either, but that’s my way of doing it 🤷
