Damp, rain-filtered air rushes beneath beige wings as a white-faced owl soars to the ground. Hopping up a step, the owl shifted and turned in the safety of an alley; revealing a mussed looking mail carrier.
Said mail carrier, you, patted down your hair and clothes before rifling through an old canvas bag, the scratchy material courtesy of rationing good fabrics. You emerged from the damp alleyway and into the street, walking up to the designated house. You were looking for a letter addressed to… ‘12 Grimmauld Place’?
Looking up at the address placard, you noticed the rest of the dark, tall house. The brick was darker than the surrounding townhouses, the front face of it warped and eerie. It was intimidating, an aura of something sinister flowing off of it in waves. Going back to the endless amount of things in that bag of yours, you thought of how much of a wonder it was that you haven’t sustained a shocking amount of papercuts already.
Finding the letter, you reached for the door knocker before it flew open.
A stocky man lunged out, older in age with thinning blonde hair and a wildly turning prosthetic eye. His bottom lip jutted out, eyebrows twisting together. He looked furious… furiously suspicious?
“Who are you!?” the man demanded with clenched teeth, his wand pointing at you discretely.
You stood with wide eyes, your brain buffering for a moment. “Uh, I deliver letters for the-” “Shush!”
A hand met the flesh of your upper arm, tugging you into the narrow, dark house and slamming the door shut. A muffled question was shouted further into the building. The man with the eye paid it no mind.
He nudged his wand forward threateningly, urging you to continue.
“Um,” you picked up, wide eyed as you looked at him. “I deliver letters for the Order?”
“That sounded like a question. Do you or don’t you?”
“I do-”
“Moody, are you harassing some poor salesman again?”
Looking over the missing-eye-man’s shoulder, you caught sight of another man and the source of the interrupting voice. Said man looked considerably younger with long, wavy black hair.
No-eye-guy, or Moody, you supposed, scoffed as he briefly glanced over his shoulder. He returned his wand to his pocket, but still eyed you with lingering suspicion before he stepped back and stalked away.
Black haired man walked forward with a certain kind of effortless suave, stopping not far ahead with his arms crossed as he leaned against old wallpaper. Perfectly carved eyebrows raised in question, unreadable grey eyes drilling into your own.
Your eyes widened again, taking a deep breath inward; you were now alone with a devastatingly attractive person. “I… deliver the Order’s mail.”
“A mail carrier? That’s cute.” He said almost casually.
Your face twisted in confusion, breath hitching. As your brain short-circuited by the unexpectedness of what sounded like both an insult and a compliment from this objectively attractive man, you came up rather empty.
He reveled in the lack of a retort, smiling almost slyly. “I mean it, though. You- Ow!” His head jerked downwards and a muffled smack! resounded in the entranceway, his chin hitting his clavicle as a woman with fiery red hair and pale, freckled-kissed skin appeared behind him. Walking forward, she regarded you apologetically.
“Sorry about him, lovely. His name is Sirius. He’s a twat. I’m Lily.” She spoke, her voice warm and kind. An offended shriek came from the black haired man behind her.
Now close up, her deep green eyes twinkled with fatigue, golden flecks sparkling like sun through trees. “I heard you’re a mail carrier?”
You nodded, letting out a deep breath. “Yes. I have a letter from another Order base,” you replied gratefully, lifting the envelope in your hands for her to take. She did so, inspecting it before handing it off to a man who stood to the side. You hadn’t noticed his arrival. He had sandy hair and looked a little gaunt. Silver scars stood out against slightly tanned skin, faded with time but no less visible. He inspected the letter, reading the return address carefully.
Sirius peered over his shoulder, reading it alongside him with a hand on his bicep and another on his hip.
With a sigh, Lily looked at you again. “Thank you, dear. Really, I’m sorry about them.” She smiled sympathetically as if she’d experienced the same thing. She likely had.
“It’s… alright. I don’t get much interaction these days.”
“That so? Is the Order really working you so hard?”
“Well, I’m sort of the only delivery person, other than owls.”
“I see. And-”
Footsteps barrelled down the hallway, crashing into Sirius. The source of the footsteps was another person, slightly taller than the black haired man. He had curly, dark brown hair and circular glasses.
Sirius hit him on the shoulder, the two laughing mirthfully before the new person shifted his attention to you and Lily. “Oh, are you why I heard the door earlier? Who’re you?”
Before you got the chance to answer, Lily did it for you. She looked at the man with soft eyes, softer than what she faced you with. His look was worse. “The Order’s mail carrier.”
Snapping out of his trance, his mouth formed an ‘o’ as his eyebrows raised. “Really? I thought we only had owls. Nice to meet you,” He smiled, shoving past Sirius who huffed dramatically. “I’m James.”
James put a hand on Lily’s shoulder, the hand drifting to the middle of her upper back.
You nodded, muttering a ‘nice to meet you’. Your hands played with the button of your mail bag.
The sandy haired man, now holding the letter, looked up at you. “When- sorry, my name’s Remus. When was this sent?” He asked, his tone kind but with an undercurrent of stress. Warm brown eyes looked into your own.
“It was an urgent letter, so, um… gosh, uh… sometime around four, just this afternoon.” Remus nodded, smiling appreciatively. Your hands drifted from your bag to your front, allowing you to wring them together under the eyes of so many people.
“It’s almost… what, half past eight?” said Sirius. “That’s fast, love. That base is, like, five hours away by train.”
James whistled as Remus nodded thoughtfully. Lily tilted her head.
Half past eight.
Dangit.
You perked up, hands flying to the bag on your hip. “Oh, no, I’ve got to go,” you blurted out. “I’m sorry, I need to be somewhere by nine!”
Lily nodded mirthfully, “Of course. Well, if you ever need to deliver to us again, you know who we are,” she smiled.
You muttered a quick reply, already finding your way to the door. “Uh, yes! It was nice meeting you all! Um-” you stumbled, latching your bag closed as you found the door handle. It swung open. “Have a good evening!”
There were mixed replies of ‘you too’ as you rushed out the door.
Before you managed to shut the door, there was a muffled, unheard yelp of “wait!” before it slammed closed.
Finding the same alley, you transformed into that same barn owl and took flight.
Meanwhile, a curious someone was peering out the front window.
...Sirius now understood your ability to deliver mail at record time.
Summary: You are an animagus who can turn into a cat. But one morning, you wake up to an unpleasant surprise.
You were majorly screwed.
How were you supposed to go to classes like this?!
Seem like your private lessons with Professor McGonagall didn't pay off as well as you thought.
Now, here you were stuck with a pair of ears and a tail!
You must have tried to turn in your sleep and somehow got halfway stuck. That wouldn't be the issue. The issue was that no matter what you tried, you couldn't make them go away.
And your first class was with Snape... great.
No student knew about your abilities. Some professors knew but that's all.
You wanted to call in sick, pretending you were ill, but you also knew no one would believe you.
One last attempt you turned fully into a feline before turning back but the ears and tail were still there. You knew you had to go to class. You knew you couldn't reveal your secret.
You let out a sigh before grabbing your robe to hide your tail and a hat for your head. You thanked the winter at least it will be passable on the hallways, maybe not inside the class but you will deal with that later...
"Miss Y/L/N... I thought you were aware that it is rude to wear a hat inside my class."
Of course, Snape couldn't just let it pass, but you were a great actress.
"Of course, Professor, I got ill last night and I am shivering as it is, if you could allow me please to keep it on, I learned so much for today's test, I didn't want to miss it." Snape gave you a look but let it pass. Just this once.
After class when everyone left, you stayed behind.
"Professor, I do apologise for the hat."
"You are not sick." his voice was so monotone.
"No. I woke up this morning and..." you took off your hat and showed him your ears. "And I also have a tail..."
"I'll talk with Minerva. See if she can help, for now go to your next class." you smiled and turned to leave.
You always liked Snape. There was something about him, something behind his eyes, he was hiding his kindness and you saw that.
Your day went on quite well, pretending to be sick so you could keep your hat on. Professor McGonagall unfortunately, had no idea how to change you back, she said she will read some books and get back to you as soon as possible.
Later that day, you sat defeated in a hallway. It was rather quiet since no one really used that hallway.
You let out a long sigh before trying to return to your book.
"Here you are. I have been looking for you." came a voice and as you looked up, you saw Mattheo walking over to you. "Here." he handed you a small brown bag and you looked at him confused. "Take it, it's not going to explode!" Mattheo and you barely spoke before. He was a friend of yours, you would say.
You took the bag and opened it, only to find medicine in there.
"The lady at the store said these are the best for a cold." he explained as you looked back up at him. "You said during many classes today that you feel ill."
Was he worried about you?
"Thank you!" you yelled after him as he walked away. He raised one of his hands to wave goodbye.
You felt your heart swell.
You might have just developed a crush on Mattheo Riddle...
---
Two days later and you had the same issue.
The professors had no idea how to help you and every possibility you tried out failed.
Dumbledor decided to officially give you an exemption from classes for the time being. He respected your decision that you didn't want to share your secret with the students.
Everyone was told that you were sick.
You truly didn't like lying to others, especially your friends, but you were also not ready to share that you are an animagus.
There was a sudden knock on your door.
"O-One moment!" you yelled, getting into bed and covering your head with your hoodie. "Come in!"
It was Mattheo, the last person you expected.
"Hi." he said as he closed the door behind himself.
"Hello."
"How are you feeling?"
"Oh, I'm a little better thank you." you smiled as he looked around your room.
He noticed the books scattered around the place. Everything looked and smelled like you.
"What's this?" he said as he walked over to your table, finding the bag he gave you days ago. "Y-You didn't take the meds I gave you?"
"Um..." but you saw him rolling his eyes.
"Are you serious? I thought you were different from the others! You could have told me, I know I am the Dark Lord's son! But I am not like him!"
"What?" you asked, confused.
"For fucks sake! You didn't take these because you hate me just like the others right?!" he yelled before running towards the door but you were also fast. You grabbed his arm and turned him towards you. He was angry.
"I-that's not why. I don't hate you." you said but he rolled his eyes.
"You don't even look sick. Did you lie to the teachers?!" he asked as he looked at your face.
The hatred in his eyes made you scared. Scared that you will lose him.
"I didn't."
"What is going on here?"
"I can't tell you and please stop yelling."
"I yell if I want to Y/N! You made me worry for you that you were sick! I got you medicine and now two days later I find out that you didn't even take them! Is this because I'm a Riddle?! Why did you lie?!"
"I didn't... I can't tell you."
"Can't tell me?! Y/N, I thought you were better than that. I thought you could see beyond a last name, not like the others. Looks I was wrong." he moved to get to the door but you stood in his way, leaning against the door, not letting him out. "Move out of my way." but you shook your head, no. "MOVE!" he yelled louder than before and it really irritated your ears. You covered your face as you slid down against the door, tears running down your face.
"I don't hate you, please don't hate me." is what you said but he yelled again, this time it was your name. And just like that, you were gone.
Mattheo's eyes nearly fell out of his head as he now saw a cat where you were previously. The cat ran under the bed and Mattheo stood there, frozen.
His brain tried to function but he just couldn't move or think.
Took him a good minute before he knelt down on the floor and looked under the bed.
"Come out please." he said with such a soft voice, it even surprised him. He tried to reach under the bed but you moved away, out of his reach. "Come on, Y/N." but you didn't budge. He let out a sigh. "I don't hate you. I really don't. I was just angry, I'm sorry for yelling. I really like you, Y/N. So, my mind went into a spiral when I thought you hated me, but I get it now, please come out." but you didn't move.
Mattheo moved to sit on the bed, deciding to give you time and space.
You moved from under the bed. Getting out and looking at him as he kept on staring at the wall. You didn't turn back, deciding to stay as a feline for now.
You jumped up on the bed and this is when he noticed you. You sat with your tail moving around you, you were thinking as well.
"I didn't know you were an animagus. I guess no one else knows." you shook your head, no. "Do the professors know?" you nodded, yes. "Ah, makes sense. You are a really cute cat you know. You look very fluffy and... sorry." He tried to reach over possibly to pet you but stopped. Still sitting on the bed, you took a deep breath before turning back.
"Please don't tell the others. They would tease and bully me." you begged as you moved closer to him. "I didn't go to classes because I can't make my tail and ears disappear," you said pointing at your head. "I'm sorry for lying. I never expected you to buy me medicine." he nodded.
"I won't tell anyone."
"I really like you too, Mattheo. I felt really bad for lying, but you understand why I couldn't tell you." he nodded before he looked at you, smiling a little.
"Your eyes are also... um... cat-like?" you let out a long sigh.
"Professor McGonagall said it is normal for a young animagus to have certain characteristics like that. Eyes are normal but ears and tail... not so much."
"I think it's cute." he reached up, touching the ears on top of your head. "Would you purr if I scratched here?"
"No, I bite."
"You are not a nice kitty then." he smirked and you smiled.
"I don't plan on being one." you played along with him and it made him smile. "I am a very bad kitty especially when someone who isn't my boyfriend touches me."
"Oh, you have a boyfriend now?"
"I do."
"Lucky fella."
"Yeah, he brings me medicine when I'm sick but he is rather bothered by his last name."
"I'm not! People are." you smiled as you moved even closer to him, and he moved his arm around you. "I'll try and get you some notes from classes." his hand ran up and down your back, it found your tail as he flinched away a little but you moved it back to his hand.
"Next time, please don't yell at me. I hate it when people argue and my hearing is sensitive."
"Sorry, Darling." a comfortable silence filled the room. "I'm glad you are not sick at least. I was rather worried."
"I still have a tail and ears..."
"They are at least cute." you looked at him before moving your head to his neck.
"You are cute." you said as you yawned a little.
"So... should I leave before your boyfriend comes back?"
"He is a big scary Slytherin so... you might want to." you smiled as you moved back to sit.
"As soon as your ears have disappeared, I will take you on a date."
"We don't have to wait! I can wear my hat!" you smiled as he watched your eyes shine. He gave you a nod before you jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom.
"Kitten, take it slow please, I still have a class."
"Oh... will you skip?"
"I mean it is... of course I will." you smiled and resumed brushing your hair.
You were really excited about this new chapter in your life.

It was one ordinary sunny morning in Hogwarts, well, one especially boring morning, Sebastian thought to himself.
The brunette was perched on one of the school courtyard's stone chairs, vehemently mourning his boredom.
He was so desperate for some kind of entertainment that he almost regretted skipping classes that day.
As he began to consider heading back in and thinking up of a half-baked excuse to tell Professor Weasley in class, he saw a tiny flash of white in the corner of his eye.
Tilting his head to get a better look, he squints his eyes, and is greeted by the view of a tiny white fox(?) running along the grass a good distance away.
Before he had the chance to do a double take, the small critter had already ran out of sight.
He stood up and craned his neck a few times, scouring the field with his eyes to try and confirm what he just saw, but ultimately slumped back down with a huff.
The brunette contemplated for a short while before deciding to go back, unsurprisingly, receiving a punishment from Professor Weasley— she was a kind teacher, kind.. But not as forgiving as Sebastian hoped.
---
The next morning, the Slytherin boy strolled down the hall, attempting to find a quiet place to delve more into his newfound tome of the usual forbidden knowledge that students were advised to keep away from.
The boy halted as he heard the familiar voices of Professor Weasley and Fig, right on the other side of the corridor's wall.
"Just give her a bit more time to adjust, Eleazar." Professor Weasley's voice rang out
"It's been weeks, Matilda. That girl hasn't talked to her fellow classmates, dormmates, or any of the professors, even going as far as carelessly leaving all of her given classes unattended." Fig anxiously replied in turn.
With Sebastian's interest now piqued, he slowed his movements and shifted to lean against the wall, carefully tucking the heavy book between his arm and torso, then proceeded to press his ear onto the cold stone material.
"I am well aware of that, Fig, but pushing the child would only serve to agitate her more, and what would we hope to accomplish then?" After a long pause, Professor Fig yielded with a defeated sigh.
"She has less than a month to catch up in classes, if she takes any longer, I'm afraid no form of special treatment would help prevent her from repeating 5th year... Let's hope your faith in this girl isn't misplaced, Matilda."
Sebastian scrunches up his eyebrows in thought,
"(There's a new student? And she's in my year? She hasn't been attending any classes so that would explain why I haven't heard about her...)"
The brunette shook his head and told himself that it had nothing to do with him anyway, then turned to continue on his merry way, unbothered by the undeniably interesting bit of news he had just overheard.
---
In the next few days that followed, Sebastian continued as he normally would, with the thought of there being a new student on the back of his mind.
When he first heard about the news, he thought he would've forgotten all about it after a day, but here he was, in the Great Hall for breakfast, unconsciously looking around the area for any unfamiliar faces— for the fourth time that week.
When he noticed what he was doing, he shook his head, thinking that maybe the thought of something new happening did kind of interest him a little. Just a little though.
That evening, Sebastian was struck with another one of those tireless nights.
It seemed like he couldn't fall asleep no matter how many times he attempted to turn and flounder in his bed.
With a defeated sigh he grumpily swung his legs over the bed's mattress and walked over to his wardrobe, he figured walking himself around the castle until exhaustion was a viable way to get tired quickly.
He had better grab a coat just in case though.
"I'd die of frostbite from roaming the castle's halls wearing only my sleeping garments.." Sebastian shuddered at the thought.
As he opened the wardrobe's doors a high-pitched creak sliced through the silence of his dorm room effectively making the usually meek blonde resting on the bed beside his to groan.
"What're you doing up at this ungodly hour?" Ominis huffed, clearly upset.
"Can't sleep."
Sebastian's abrupt reply didn't seem to bother Ominis as the blonde merely rolled over on his bed and went right back to his unconscious state.
After swiftly putting on a coat, the boy slowly walked over to the door and quietly stepped out, taking extra care to cushion the door's closing into a quiet thud in hopes of avoiding Ominis' wrath.
---
Sebastian walked for about twenty minutes throughout the castle, making sure to swiftly avoid all the spots where prefects are scheduled to check for students like him being out of bed after curfew.
As he passed by the transfiguration courtyard, he felt compelled to stroll through it.. He didn't know why, he wasn't really the type to stargaze.
... Maybe it was the allure of the shimmering evening sky, or the cool evening air from outside drawing him in. Either way, before he knew it, he was stepping over dewy, wet grass, inhaling the frosty breeze.
A soft, golden glow from the lanterns bathed the typically lively courtyard. It was dead quiet except for the usual cacophony of evening crickets.
The scenery, made up of the sea of stars, momentarily stunned the boy.
"Well isn't this a sight for sore eyes. I guess not being able to sleep has its upsides after all..."
Just as he finished speaking, he hears a scuttle to his right, right in the same direction as the small dragon statue placed at the centre of the courtyard.
Sebastian's legs start moving before he can think, and he walks over to where the noises seemed to come from.
Tilting his head to see past the dragon statue, he glimpses a bundle of white fur..
Side-stepping the stony dragon, he realises it's a tail, and he keeps walking, trying to see the rest of the fluffy behind.
The moment Sebastian gets a good look, he sees a cloud with... legs? No, wait... a smaller, white statue...?
He blinks away some of the grogginess from his eyes and shortly realises the culprit was a fox.
..a tiny one
It was a bit larger than your average stuffed teddy, its eyes were locked on his.
It was eerily still, noticeably wary of his presence. That must've been why he mistook it for a statue at first.
The animal's stare was stern, blown wide and unblinking, tinged with a hint of apprehension. It seemed like it was making sure not to miss one single movement from him.
With how wide it kept its eyes open, he couldn't help but pay the most attention to that area, subconsciously ingraining the view into his memory.
Sebastian finally blinked, earning a flinch from the creature.
"What's a wee lil' critter like you doing inside the castle?" He smirked, amused
"...How'd you even manage to sneak inside—" Consumed by his fascination, the Slytherin mindlessly took a step towards the fox, then, before he could blink, it had already sprinted away into the darkness.
He could've tried to chase after it, but it was too fast for Sebastian to even hope to catch up. Moreover, all the walking from earlier caught up to his sleep-deprived body, so with a tired yawn, he turned and sauntered back to his dorm.
warnings: scars, mentions of blood (nothing major), being used for being an animagus against your will.
opening: Y/n is an animagus, and their form is a Nundu. Due to their bad past, they prefer to stay in their animagi form as much as possible. What happens when a certain magizoologist finds them?
Not Proof Read!!
AN// It’s one of those phases, when I remember that Newt exists, and I have to show my love and appreciation for him by making a long ass fanfic of him.
“You’re not afraid of me?”
You’d been an animagi as long as you could remember. Your parents were as well, and they started to teach you to become one as well, as soon as they could. Though, when you were finally able to transform, your parents weren't too happy with your form.
Your animal wasn’t as pretty or as normal as your parents' forms were. Your animal was a Nundu. A large beast that resembled a leopard. It’s fur was greyish black, with a spiky mane. Two sets of smaller horns on its head, and black eyes. Sharp claws and more spikes on its back. Some even said that the creature was the most dangerous of them all. It was said that the breath of this creature was toxic, and could kill a whole village of people. It was no wonder your parents weren't too happy about this. All the work they put into this, and the form was something you couldn’t just walk around town with. Hell, the form would scare away even the bravest of witches and wizards if they were alone.
Because of that, it was no wonder why you were told not to show anyone your form. After a whole lot of planning, your parents had also told you that they weren’t going to register you as an animagus. That wasn’t obviously allowed, but you had been too young to be able to question their decision.
So you grew up without transforming in front of anyone, or ever telling anyone what you were. It was only when you were older, that you had accidentally transformed. That had been a huge mistake, since the people who happened to see it, wanted to take advantage of this form of yours. If they got you to transform whenever they wanted, you could scare away their enemies. Of course they’d know you wouldn't dare to attack them, but their enemies would get scared enough to run away.
They had you under control like this for a while. You were overpowered by their threats of outing you to someone, or hurting you if you didn’t obey. This lasted for quite a long time, until one day. There was an attack on the building you and the people who kept you there were. The people who attacked didn't seem to notice you at first. So when they were too busy fighting together, you made your escape.
Transforming to your form, you began to run. No sense of what direction you were running in, but you had to get far. Far away enough that they wouldn’t be able to find you. There were soon no people around you anymore. You were all alone in what seemed like a forest. It was dark and gloomy. The trees illuminated huge black shadows over your form. One could have thought it was scary, but the dark felt comforting. It consumed you in it, hiding you and your horrifying form from everything and everyone.
The people from before had neglected you. You were only given food and water to be able to survive. It was no way near enough. After the panic from running away had started to fade, you realised how hungry you were. You had some bruises on your body, and you’d soon be only skin and bones if you didn’t find something to eat.
With no idea how to hunt in your form, you began to wander around. It didn’t take too long for your senses to start working, and you were able to hear where there was prey. A bird caught your eye. It was eating something on the ground, all alone. You got down a little, slowly making your way towards the bird. You waited for a moment, before you tried to jump and catch the thing. But of course, with your hunting skills being probably under zero, the bird was able to fly away with no problem.
You sat down, and tried to numb the screaming hunger in your stomach. You didn’t hear nor see a certain someone watching over you. He had come to the forest for other things, but you were a surprise to say the least. What on earth was a Nundu doing here of all places? And why couldn't a fully grown one catch food? Were you sick in some way?
Newt had studied this species a little before, but he had never been in contact with one like this. His gaze watched as you got up. This allowed him to see how skinny you were. Some of the bruises on your back indicated that you must have been hurt in some way. That could explain why you were here. Maybe you were illegally sold from Africa to here, for someone's selfish ideas.
The magizoologist was filled with anger towards the people who did this. He couldn’t stand seeing people hurt these creatures. This was why he stepped out of his hiding spot, carefully getting closer to you. A scared or frightened Nundu could be dangerous, so he had to be careful.
You soon smelled someone getting closer to you, which made you turn around. This allowed you to see what seemed like a wizard getting closer to you. Your instinct made you growl and show your teeth at him, in hopes of scaring him away. You had learned this while being trapped. The scarier you look, the more likely this “enemy” would sprint away. But this wizard was different. When you did this, he just stopped and didn’t run away. So you tried it again, clawing your paws on the dirt ground, leaving behind claw marks. All of this didn’t make this man turn away and run.
Newt put his hand up, showing you that he wasn’t trying to hurt you. He indeed was a little afraid, but by showing his fear, he would be giving you exactly what you wanted. “Hey, calm down. I’m not here to hurt you.” He said calmly, taking a step closer to you. You back away, not growling anymore. Did this man have a death wish, or why was he still trying to get closer to you?
Your tail brushed the bark of a tree. This meant there was no more backing, you'd just have to see what he did. The wizard stopped a few steps away from you, holding out his hand. “Calm…Come here…it’s okay…” He tilted his head a little. You didn’t want to get trapped again, but he didn’t seem too dangerous. He didn’t seem to even be scared of you, no matter if you tried to scare him away or not. You slowly took a few steps closer to him, allowing his hand to pet your face. “Do you want to come with me? I have some food for you.” He stated, still petting your face. His touch was gentle, not like the others who almost dragged you around. You lowered your head in agreement, allowing him to see the scars on your back. “Ah..you poor thing..” Newt mumbled, as he got up.
You expected him to lead you somewhere, but instead he placed a briefcase down, and opened it. There was a ladder leading down somewhere, and the man gestured for you to get down. It seemed like a trap, but the man seemed too kind to hurt you. So you made the decision to step in, leaving your recently gained freedom behind.
As soon as you got down, Newt followed you. There were a lot of things here. The place was like a whole house. Having a small kitchen, a living room and a little bedroom as well. Most of the space seemed to be used for habitats of sorts. Did this man collect creatures like you!?
Before you were able to panic more, Newt spoke up. “I’m a magizoologist. I keep rescues and other creatures here to keep them safe, and to relocate them where they belong.” He spoke, as he walked forward. You followed him, listening closely. “But from what I’ve studied, you belong in East Africa, don’t you?” He asked, starting to collect some herbs off the shelves. Oh yeah…He didn’t know you were an animagus…You really wanted to transform back, but for some reason you didn’t feel comfortable doing that. You felt more protected like this.
Newt began to brew something, from what you could tell. “Well get you back home some way…Then you can be free again.” He thought out loud, smiling a little at the end. He seemed to enjoy the thought of seeing you be able to run free again. Only problem was, that you had lived here your entire life, your feet hadn’t even touched the East African ground.
The brew he seemed to be making was ready. “I’ll apply this to your wounds. Stay still for me, please?” He requested, slowly making his way behind you. He brushed the liquid over the scars, making you growl in pain. It hurt even though the wounds weren’t even fresh anymore. But to your surprise, the pain faded, and the scars seemed to fade as well. “There we go…” Newt’s voice said, as he appeared in front of you again. “Let’s get you something to eat.” He kept talking, keeping you company. Did he talk to all the creatures like this, knowing they wouldn’t understand? Though you were a special case, since you understood every single word he said. But he didn’t know that.
Newt led you to a more open space, where there were more habitats. Some smaller creatures running around, chasing each other. You heard a clang that made your gaze quickly turn to Newt. He now held a bucked in his hand, that he was filling with some sort of meat. “I wonder how long you’ve been here, since you didn’t seem to be able to hunt…” Newt thought out loud again, holding up a piece of meat. “Let’s see if you can catch this.” He smiled a little, then throwing the piece up. Your eyes followed it for a moment, before you sprang up, catching the piece between your teeth. It felt good to finally be able to eat something. “Oh, great job! Here’s the rest.” He offered you the bucket, sitting a little further away to supervise you eating. “We need to give you a name…How about..hmm..Obsidian?” Newt tilted his head, as if you’d be able to reply to him. “Oh, it seemed I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Newt, Newt Scamander.” He smiled, seeing you finish eating.
“We need to find you a habitat, where you can live while you’re here.” Newt got up, his gaze searching for the perfect spot. You saw when he spotted something. A habitat with a small river, some bushy trees that had some moss on them. “That’s the closest we have. Come and take a look.” You slowly followed him, walking in the habitat. It felt comfortable, so you began to look around a little more. “You like it?” Newt asked, stepping in the habitat as well.
So it was settled. That was going to be your habitat, until Newt found a way to get you back home. He didn’t have time to go to East Africa at that moment, since he had some business to do in America.
The sun had begun to go down, and night was coming. You laid down in your habitat, relaxing as you knew you weren’t in danger anymore. For once you could sleep in peace. As your mind finally got some rest, without you ever realising you transformed back to your human form. It was only when you opened your eyes again, that you didn’t see the black paws, but a pair of hands under your head. This made you sit up immediately. You panicked, and because of that you weren’t able to turn back. For your luck, Newt happened to walk in on you doing this, as he was about to give supper to the other creatures. He was only able to see your back, as you were finally able to turn back to your animagus form.
It didn’t take him more than a few seconds to realise that you weren’t actually a Nundu, but only an animagi that’s form was a Nundu. That must have been the reason why you were in such bad condition then, someone had trapped you.
Newt jogged up to your habitat, carefully not to scare you. “Hey, Obsidian?” He asked calmly, giving you some space. You turned around in fear, trying to back up. “Are you an animagi?” He questioned, making you try to look away. “Don’t be scared. When you feel like it, you can show yourself to me.” Newt spoke. This was probably the first time you had met anyone, who didn’t seem to be horrified by the fact that there was an animagi, who’s form was a Nundu. His eyes looked more excited rather than horrified. It was like he was fascinated about you, and wanted to know more. “Of course, take your time if you feel that you need it. I’m nor forcing you to transform back.” he added quickly, seeing as you didn’t seem too comfortable with the idea of turning back.
You looked at Newt for a moment, seeing that he indeed was excited to see you transform. You knew you had to reveal yourself eventually anyway, so you might as well do it now rather than later. You closed your eyes, and before you knew it, you were standing on two legs. Your gaze was on the ground, making your hair cover your face. Your clothes were the same you had on when you had ran away. They were a little ripped from here and there, and looked dirty. “Oh, look at you! Hello there.” Newt’s voice changed a little. His voice was different from when he talked to his creatures, to when he talked to other humans. “I suppose you have a real name, other than Obsidian?” He laughed quietly, taking a step closer to you. “It’s Y/n.. L/n” You replied to him, looking up at him slowly.
His futures looked different when looking at him through human eyes. “We need to get you some warmer clothes…Come with me.” Newt suggested, turning to walk towards the small bedroom you had seen earlier. You watched him search for something, before he came back. “Take these for now. We can get you something else tomorrow. “ He smiled at you, offering a small pile of clothes to you. You took them carefully, making your way to his bedroom to change.
As you were putting on the clothes, you observed the pieces he had picked for you. A whitish button up collar shirt, a light brown vest, and a bowtie, that was a couple shades darker than the vest. Some baggy pants and a pair of black shoes. You'd definitely survive with these just fine. So you dressed up, and made your way out.
Newt was nowhere to be seen, so you decided to make your way towards the habitat. When you reached your destination, you heard a familiar voice. “Y/n, I have a bed for you if you-” You got startled by this, making you turn to your animagus form quicker, before turning to look at him. “Or you can sleep there, if you wish so. Good night Y/n.” Newt said calmly, disappearing once again.
You walked slowly to a spot with longer grass, and laid down. It didn’t take you too long to fall asleep. You were quite tired from today, so it was no wonder that your body wanted to rest.
Your ear twisted, as you began to wake up. The first thing you heard was almost like coins falling on a floor. You tried to ignore it, but before you could fall asleep again, you heard quick steps coming towards you. Before you could even react, a small brown ball jumped on you, and then behind you, leaving a trail of coins and other shiny things on you. “Niffler, be carefu!-” You heard, after you had gotten up, now growling at the small creature. The small thing looked beyond scared, and was frozen in place by your roar you had let out. Newt was taking small steps towards you, hoping not to scare you more. “Y/n, calm down, it’s okay. Niffler isn’t here to hurt you.” He reassured you, holding out a hand for the Niffler. It let go of the coin it had been holding, and ran to its owner, hiding behind his neck. “See, he’s harmless. A little annoying is all.” Newt said calmly, putting the Niffler down, to allow him to run away. You observed it, as it ran. Seemed like the poor creature was more frightened than you. Then again, you were like ten times its size, so it was no wonder why.
After you couldn’t see the Niffler anymore, you took a few careful steps towards Newt, and laid down on the ground. “You prefer your animagus form, huh?” He hummed, petting your face. The pikes on your mane prevented him from petting your head, so this was the only way he could even pet you. “Let’s get you some breakfast.” The magizoologist soon said, as he got up. You followed his movements, walking behind him. He poured the same type of feed in a bucket as yesterday, and handed it over to you. “There you go.” Newt commented, sitting down.
As you were licking the bottom of the bucket, you heard some steps coming towards you and Newt. Newt didn’t seem to notice this yet, but they sounded like another human walking. You perked your head up, now standing up to look bigger than you actually were. “What is it?” Newt now asked, seeing that you had seen something. “Newt? Newton! Are you here?” A woman’s voice asked, soon coming around the corner. “Tina!-” Newt started, now seeing how you were lowering your head, showing your sharp front teeth. He saw the blood from the food still slightly on them. “No, don’t come he-!! Whoah, Hey!!” The man sprung up as you lunged at this stranger in your new ‘home’. You were about to stretch your claws towards her, when something happened.
AN//Um, hello it’s my B-day today, that’s kinda cool. Anyway, hope you liked this idk :”D
Requested: Hi! A Fred Weasley imagine where he finds a cat animagus and he takes a liking in it. Maybe she’s hurt and he helps her, but she’s stuck somehow. And he’s with her all day, then later during dinner, she falls asleep on his lap, and suddenly she turns back into a person but she’s asleep in Fred’s lap, and everyone’s shocked to see who it is. it’s Draco Malfoy’s best friend who’s in slytherin. Maybe Fred’s always had a crush on her and she likes him back.
Warnings: injuries
A/N: I just want to say that I love this idea and I hope I wrote it well
———————————–
Stupid first years. That had been the only thing on your mind as you limped around the halls. You’d been trying to practice your animagus skills when you’d gotten sidetracked by a group of first years coming around the corner. They’d pet you and you pretended to enjoy it, purring at them and hoping they’d go away soon enough. That had been until one of them decided it was a good idea to pick you up from only one of your arms. With a cry you’d fallen to the ground and you’d been stuck as a cat for longer than you would’ve liked.
“George, look. A cat.” You heard someone’s voice. “I think it’s hurt.” The voice that you’d now realized was Fred Weasley said. “Oh you poor thing.” Fred’s vice startled you when it was right above you. With one hand he scooped you up and pet you between your eyes. You let out a hiss and bit Fred’s finger. “Ow! I’m trying to help you.” Fred whined and settled for carrying you with no other movements.
Out of all the people that could’ve found you, you hadn’t wanted it to be Fred. You’d had a crush on the boy for years, and this is the closest you’d ever been. You were sure Draco would be having a field day if he saw you. He knew just how your animagus form looked, and he’d known about your crush on the older Weasley twin ever since the both of you had become friends. You wanted nothing more than to rub yourself against his cheek as a thank you for him picking you up.
“What’s wrong with her?” George asked, both of the boys looking down at you on Fred’s bed. You stared back up at them, wishing you could somehow communicate what exactly you needed.
“I think it’s the arm? Maybe her paw.” Fred explained, gently probing your arm once again. “Oh!” He exclaimed when he’d finally found the problem. “Poor baby has a dislocated arm.” Fred diagnosed making your heart drop.
You’d hissed when he tried picking you up again, clawing at his hand with your good paw. A dislocated arm most likely meant you’d have a dislocated shoulder in your human form. You remembered the feeling the last time you’d had one and popping the bone back in place was never fun. With both of the twins coming at you at once you couldn’t fight them off, both of them throwing reassuring cooes your way while Fred put your arm back in place.
“See? That wasn’t so bad.” Fred scratched under your chin and you let out an involuntary purr, relaxing into him. “I think she’s saying thank you.” He laughed when you rubbed your head on his cheek. “I think I’ll keep you.” Fred pondered, sitting on his bed and placing you in his lap. You crawled up his chest, sitting down while you looked down at him.
“What should we name her?” George asked, scratching the top of your head.
“Y/N.” Fred explained making you look at him in shock.
“What? Why?” George asked, voicing your thoughts.
“I don’t know.” Fred shrugged. “She just reminds of her.” He continued, petting your head all the way down to your tail. “What do you say Y/N?” Fred asked, earning a purr in response. “She likes it.” He smiled at his brother.
George made his way out of the room, muttering about how crazy his brother was under his breath. You’d tried changing back so you could thank Fred, but the dull pain when you walked let you know you’d be stuck for a while longer. You laid down on Fred’s chest and got comfortable, giving his chin a lick just to hear him laugh. You’d figured you’d make the most of the time you had left. Fred played with you until George came back in, declaring it was time for dinner.
“You can’t bring her with us.” George protested when he saw you in Fred’s arms.
“Don’t be mean. Poor thing probably hasn’t eaten. I’ll give her some food and bring her back.” Fred explained, both of them walking out of the Gryffindor common room. Fred continued to baby talk to you, and only stopped when Draco started walking in your direction.
“Have you lot seen Y/N?” Draco asked the twins, only for his eyes to land on you in Fred’s arms, a knowing smile forming on his face.
“No, she’s your best friend Malfoy, shouldn’t you know where she is?” George asked, and Draco moved closer to you.
“I just remembered.” Draco smiled. “Where’d you find a cat? I know your parents don’t have enough to get you one.” He explained and you hissed.
“She was limping around and we helped her.” Fred explained, ignoring his comment while Draco reached his hand out to pet you.
“Merlin.” Draco hissed pulling his hand away from you.
“She doesn’t like you.” Fred laughed as Draco shook his hand to stop the pain. “What a good girl.” Fred cooed down at you only making Draco smirk down at you. You would’ve bit him again if it weren’t for Fred holding you, and with a rough pat to your head Draco left.
You curled in Fred’s lap when he sat down in the Great Hall. At first you’d eaten some of the food held out for you, but you soon felt tired. With a purr you’d rubbed yourself against his stomach and your eyes felt heavier. Before you knew it, you were sound asleep in Fred’s lap.
“She’s so cute.” Ginny almost squealed but with Fred’s death glare she kept it quiet. She pet you softly and it seemed like everyone’s attention was on the cat in Fred’s lap.
Fred had stayed seated while the majority of the hall was being cleared out. He hadn’t wanted to wake you up, so all he did was sit and speak quietly to his siblings. Somehow through your nap you’d changed back into your human form, and it seemed on instinct that you curled further into Fred, getting comfortable on his lap and chest.
“Bloody hell!” Fred exclaimed, his hands raising up and away from himself when he finally took you in.

List of animals I'd like to have as my animagus form and why. (Feat marauders)
A fox. foxes are cute but fast and agile. Plus Sirius would definitely use you as a scarf
A bear. imagine being a bear. You're big and strong so you can definitely handle werewolf remus. but most importantly: hugs, hugs and more hugs.
An owl. you'd be invisible in a place like Hogwarts. No one would find an owl suspicious so you can do whatever you want. Bonus: you can fly. Bonus bonus: you can prank so many people like this.
opening: Y/n is an animagus, and their form is a Nundu. Due to their bad past, they prefer to stay in their animagi form as much as possible. A magizoologist finds them, and tries to get to know them.
AN// i’m not even going to lie, I kind of forgot the idea I had with this fanfic originally because it’s been a while since i wrote the first part, but i’ll try to make it work :”D
Not Proof Read!!
“She’s not afraid of me?”
You were about to stretch your claws towards her, when something happened. You felt yourself transform, but it was against your own will. You’d felt this in the past as well, when the group you “worked for '' would force you to turn to your animagus form and when they wanted you to turn back. But they weren’t here now, so what was this? There wasn’t a lot of time to think about that, because the next thing you felt was falling to the ground. You slowly lifted yourself up by your arms, while trying to see what happened. Newt was standing in front of you, with his wand pointing straight at you. The woman you had lunged at was behind him, staring at Newt and you in confusion, with a tiny bit of fright on her face. It didn't take you long to realise that Newt had used the reversal spell on you to stop you from attacking the woman.
You got up quickly, backing away from Newt before dusting your clothes. You looked horrified. Not because he didn’t allow you to attack, but because you had been forced to turn back once again, and it didn’t bring back pleasant memories. At that moment it didn’t pop into your head that he was just protecting the both of you by doing that, he didn’t mean to scare you. “What is going on here?” Tina’s voice asked quietly, trying to find answers. Newt stayed in front of her, only giving her a quick look. He seemed to understand that you weren’t fond of the spell he had casted on you, and it was clear. “Tina, could you wait in the kitchen?” He asked, not taking his eyes off of you. “I’ll be there.” The woman nodded slowly, then made her way back. This left you alone with Newt.
You didn’t say anything, you just stood there for a moment. You wanted to turn back to your nundu form, but it felt impossible. It might have been a side effect to the spell or you were just exhausted from being forced to turn back. You didn’t know which one it was, but this used to happen before when you were forced to turn back as well. “Y/n, I didn’t mean to scare you. If I knew-” He began, not taking steps closer to you to keep you calmer. “They used your spell often.” You mumbled, remembering the amount of times you had been forced to turn. Newt tilted his head at this. “Who are they?” He asked in confusion. You didn’t reply, not because you didn’t want to out the group of people, but mostly because you didn’t remember them telling you their real names. “I don’t know.” You ended up replying. Tears started to drop down from your eyes, rolling down your cheeks and then falling to the ground. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know…I don’t think I still understand fully..” Newt said, taking a small step towards you. You heard this, and looked up. He seemed to be worried and from what you could tell, he was actually feeling bad for what he did. None of the people you lived with before had shown you this kind of ‘guilt’ for casting the spell. You wiped your eyes with your sleeve. “It’s okay, I understand why you casted it.” You replied, embracing yourself by wrapping your arms around yourself. “It’s not okay, but I know better now. Alright?” He hummed, walking slowly in front of you and offered a hug. You looked at him for a moment, before accepting the hug. You placed your head on his shoulder, trying to calm down your breathing. “Do you want to meet Tina?” He asked, and pulled away slightly. “I think I already gave her a good scare, bet she wouldn’t want to talk to me?” You replied, remembering how she looked after you almost attacked her. “She's understanding. You can meet her another day, If you want to?” Newt requested, letting go of you. You only nodded at this.
You had begun to feel a lot better. This allowed you to turn back to your animagus form. Newt watched you transform, and smiled slightly when your nundu form was standing in front of him. “I’ll come back in a bit.” He said, and turned to the direction his friend had gone as well. You did internally hope that this Tina person didn’t hate you already. You had just gotten scared, your intention hadn’t been to attack one of Newt’s friends.
You tried to shake it off and lay down for a bit. Deep down you knew that you’d have to turn back to your human form and apologise to Tina, whether you liked it or not. Not much time passed by, before you heard someone walking towards you. This time you didn’t get scared, because you assumed it was Newt and you had been right. He was alone, which scared you. Did this mean Tina didn’t want to meet you because you had scared her so badly?
“Y/n? I asked Tina, and she said she could meet you now, if you’re up for that?” He spoke up after stopping in front of you. You opened your eyes fully, seemingly shocked by this. She wanted to see you, even after what you had done? “She’s not scared, or at the very least disgusted by me?” You asked and tilted your head in confusion. Newt furrowed his brows after hearing you. The slight smile he had on his face earlier was now gone, and it was replaced by a confused frown. “No? No..of course not. I don’t know what kind of people you’ve met in the past, but she’s nothing like that.” He replied, offering his hand out to you. You stared at him for a slight moment, before you felt your legs touch the ground of your habitat. “I guess I need to apologise to her anyway…” You mumbled before taking a hold of Newt’s hand. He smiled at your gesture and started to lead you towards the kitchen you and him had walked through earlier.
In the kitchen sat the same woman you had come to know as Tina. She had a mug in her hand, and it smelled like she was drinking tea. “They’re here.” Newt announced, and walked to sit on one of the chairs that were around the table. You followed him shyly, and sat on the third chair that was next to Newt’s. “So you’re Y/n? Gave me a little scare out there.” She started, giving a lighthearted giggle at the end. You looked at the table, not being able to look at her eyes. “I’m sorry for that, I didn’t mean to try and attack you. You just surprised me.” You apologised, and looked up a little to see her reaction. She had a kind smile on her face. “Newt told me, and I understand. Nothing for you to be ashamed of. It’s still nice to meet you!” Tina replied to you, and put down her mug. “Though I’m afraid I have to get going now. I’m sure we’ll meet again soon.” And with that she got up, and put on her coat. “See you soon, Newt and Y/n.” Tina said before she left. You turned your gaze to Newt. “I told you, she understands.” He hummed. You felt relief and like some kind of pressure that you didn’t know was on your shoulders, wasn’t there anymore. Tina seemed to be a closer friend of Newt’s so you didn’t want her to think you acted like this all the time and just because you felt like it. “Thank you.” Was all you could reply to him, before you got up and offered a hug to him, which he accepted. “Please, know that all the people I allow to come here are friends. They’re not going to hurt you.” Newt spoke, and pulled away for a bit to look at your eyes. You looked at him and nodded. You were safe here, and had a new chance at being an animagus.
AN// Hello, it’s 1am<3 This turned out to be a little shorter than I would have liked, but I think the ending was good enough to leave it like that! Hope you liked it!^^
