I feel like I will never get my actual end, I also feel this was such a HUGE show and if he was so big on ending it, he could've taken the time to give us both ends, one with Hinata and one with Sakura. Giving everyone what they wanted. Instead of bullshitting EVERYONE on how it was suppose to be Naruto/Hinata.. Yea sure.. I guess that is what is pissing me off the most him trying to desperately make people believe him when I don't think he even believes himself.
I think what happened is this: they figured out losing the narusaku fandom was still better than losing both SS and NH, so they decided the endgame would be NH. They knew there'd be a fallout in the shipping fanbase after the ending, so they decided they'd make a movie totally dedicated to making the fanbase accept NH. Since this movie was supposed to make up for the lack of development in the manga, they had to claim it's canon, otherwise the movie would've been a pointless exercise if the fanbase dismissed it as filler. And to do this, they made Kishi pull Kaguya out of his ass to make Toneri, otherwise a filler a villain, have canon connection.
I agree it's desperate. If they felt NH had the development in manga to become canon, they wouldn't have felt the need to make a movie to justify it. If people thought NH was obvious the endgame all along, Kishi wouldn't have been asked when and why he decided on NH in all the interviews.
