🎧✨ My First Experience Listening to J-Pop/Vocaloid ✨🎧
Okay so throwback to baby me discovering a whole new world on YouTube at like... 13?? I was deep in some anime rabbit hole, probably looking up AMVs, when I stumbled across "World is Mine" by Hatsune Miku and—listen. My whole brain just lit up. I was like, “Wait, she’s not even real???” and also “Why does this slap??” 😂
Then came the cascade of songs—Luka’s “Just Be Friends,” Gumi’s “Echo,” Len and Rin’s chaos—like it was such a magical mess. I had no clue what they were saying but the vibes?? Immaculate. The melodies, the aesthetic, the covers with those cute fan art thumbnails?? A full cultural reset.
And don’t even get me started on J-Pop. Once I heard LiSA and Utada Hikaru, it was game over. Suddenly I’m making entire playlists titled “🌸 anime feelings 🌸” and trying to learn the lyrics phonetically like I was preparing for a concert that would never happen lol.
Honestly? It was one of the first times I felt connected to music on a purely emotional level, even without understanding the language. And now, years later, I still throw on some Vocaloid or J-Pop when I need a mood boost or a little nostalgia hit.
Let me know your first song!! I’m always curious which track pulled people into the chaos 💿💖
