Best of Anime September, Day 30 and Wrap-Up
Congratulations to all those that found time and were disciplined enough to make it through all 30 days. Special kudos to the dozen or so of you that made extensive posts for every single day. What commitment!
Anime September began as Jade-kun's brainchild. Jade came to me asking for permission to use the 30 Day Challenge I was espousing. It was simple - invite the anime community on Tumblr to join in on a large-scale 30 Day Challenge. There was no intent to gain follows or anything of that sort. It would just be for fun.
And I hope y'all had fun doing the challenge - I certainly had a blast reading all of your responses!
Take care, keep in touch, and continue to enjoy anime! And again, thank you!
This is my favorite question and thus, the one I left for last. I think one thing that binds almost all anime fans is that anime speaks to our hearts. It makes a connection with us that's hard to define. And certainly, specific series belong to us more closely than others.
Here are some of the series that have your hearts.
2lazyforthis, Honey and Clover
To me, this anime was love at first sight, asI was immediately mesmerized by its beautiful yet simple art, As I kept on watching, I was sucked into this world in which the college students lives, and watch as they go on with their not-so-normal average lives....
mikashimotaku, Yumeiro Patissiere
What other anime besides Yumeiro Patissiere could have my heart? Literally, this anime has reigned as my favourite for almost 4 years now. Maybe because it was the first ongoing anime I ever watched. Maybe it was because it was the first anime where I had a true pair I truly shipped. Maybe it was because the characters were so lovable. Maybe it was because the sweets looked so yummy...
ssdjp, Naruto/Naruto Shippunden
...Naruto has taught me so much, about life, about other people, and about the world. I understood that bad times are not forever, and the importance of friendship. I learned that one person could change the world, even if it was in a small way. I was baffled by Naruto’s determination and inherited his strong drive to never give up. These values have followed me throughout my life, and have made me the person I am today....
unnecessaryfundamentals, K-On!
...Lots of people complain about K-On and it’s excessive moe and lack of story. (It’s a slice-of-life by KyoAni, guys, come on). But it has a special place for me in my heart and I’m forever thankful for the circumstances that led me to watch this.
FLCL is such a dense, over-the-top clusterf*** filled with incredibly detailed characters that behave realistically in relation to their problems. You can joke and say how it’s just a simple coming of age story, but that’s besides the point. The way FLCL tells the story, obscuring everything within the confusion of the absurd instead of desperately trying to drive the point home like most shows do is what makes it that much more fun to rewatch....
thekittycatcar, Mushi-shi
...Why this anime has my heart is that it conveys deep themes in a simply and heart-warming layout. It imparts many lessons about life in general and it gives you this warm feeling in your heart at the end of every episode. Yet is does not go easy at showing the harsh realities of life either. But there is a silver lining in every episode. The subline, the cure lies within the curse is quite fitting. As I could say happiness lies within tragedy, one just has to realize that something bad if looked under a different light can have a whole other meaning.
