AniMonday anime watch party did not have a full compliment, so the three of us who got there on time watched Project A-Ko 3: Cinderella Story. (This subset of the club had previously watched the first two.) It is so silly and so stupid and so cute. The sudden hetero brought on by the appearance of a cute guy on a motorcycle was ignored in favor of our fan theory that Kei is in fact a he/him butch lesbian.

Of course someone showed up to the stream right before the obligatory boobies scene but what can you do.

We watched Kiki's Delivery Service after that, and it was unsurprisingly good! We watched the original japanese audio so we got the bittersweet meowing Jiji ending.

Hopefully we will finally get back to Escaflowne next week!

I forgot to write about our second session of AniMonday! Everything started smoothly on time this week, and the second episode introduced and then promptly killed a very attractive older man, along with the Escaflowne itself. We are all enjoying the fantasy brass gear aesthetic of the guymelef mechs. Hitomi's future vision sure keeps coming in handy! I hope she keeps using it to keep our main characters safe. After escaflowne, we voted to watch the second Vampire Hunter D movie. Bloodlust puts its whole pussy into looking cool as hell the whole time, plot and character development be damned. I only have the dub and not the original audio, so the dialogue definitely suffered from typical repetitive Dubisms, but it was always cool to look at. I was disappointed by Carmilla though. While her vibe was wonderfully evil, it was entirely lacking in lesbianism.
