Logan Cox reviews 'Unbowed and Unbent,' an episode of 'House of the Dragon.'
“He burns, but without fire.”
No one’s happy in this house. Everyone’s got big plans, delusions of grandeur, but reality keeps rearing its ugly head.

Victoria Grossack reviews the Duffer Brothers' limited series "The Boroughs."
Nobody cares about old people. Not even old people.
The Boroughs – a community for retired people – is advertised as a place where you’ll have the time of your life. Note this is not always a good thing.
Billie Doux reviews 'Human Best Friend,' an episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
"I promise you this will be the best shore leave ever."
And it's Star Trek does The Hangover.

Today is a new day. Always is.
When I first watched the How I Met Your Mother series finale I was so upset. So upset they have eight years and then the last season is over the span of three days and then the last episode is a three-year time jump.
I’m also still mad that the mother died and Ted ended up with Robin. Robin never was going to love him and they were just a puzzle piece not fit totally right, but I’m not as upset about the finale anymore. I think that within those three years lots does change. The most heartbreaking scene is with Lily and Robin talking about how the group will never be back together. So much changes. And when Robin stands in the empty apartment, I totally empathized with her.
Because so much changes in life. People change and situations do too. I think that Robin is so real for acknowledging that things won’t go back to being the same or with the 5 of them. I mean, it’s a TV show, but the situation of the 5 of them at McLaren’s lasted too long to begin with.
The finale makes sense. I just don’t think that an audience of 9 years wants to get real like that. Sometimes you want a show to have a happy ending. You want a show to be like Friends, where it’s wrapped up in a colorful box with a pressed bow.
Because, we have to have our own lives with all the real change. We don’t want a show to shove it back in our faces. We want Robin and Barney to be together, and we want Ted and Tracy to live happily ever after. But that’s not how life works. And I think after re watching the show it got much more real for me.
Granted, I’m only 20, but I feel like Ted in terms of looking for a soulmate. I want to find The One. And sometimes it feels like it’ll never happen, so this time around, the show spoke to me in a much more real sense. Time isn’t fluid, it’s not a straight shot. We remake memories to fit our needs. We imagine the future to be what we want because it’s scarier to face the realness of not finding anyone.
Time doesn’t make sense; it’s scary. The future is unwritten but sometimes it feels like it is. Like we can guess what’s going to happen, but we don’t want to face it. And maybe the ending isn’t what I wanted to see a few years ago when I thought there was The One out there for me.
And I’m still young but watching the ending I’m not as upset because that’s how life works. It’s what I needed to see to avoid being caught up in an ideal mindset that I’m going to have amazing friends all the time and meet the love of my life the first day of college. The ending was not what I wanted but ultimately needed. The timing just had to be right for me to understand that.
In reality, I don’t think Ted should’ve stayed living there being best friends with a married couple. Even now, when Misty says I’m going to spend the night with her boyfriend, I get sad because I think that will never be something I can say. And he thought he met the best girl, The One. But she’s not. Robin was not The One. And that’s okay. He just pretended she was for too long. And being friends with Barney probably wasn’t good for anyone’s chances of getting into heaven but that’s beside the point.
The show is so important. I think in a few years I’ll rewatch it and see how my opinions change and reflect how it relates to my life. Hopefully I’ll be in a better spot. Hopefully I’ll have found The One. Because if I haven’t, I’ll be seriously down, and I don’t have a pep talk in me for that moment. Times are always changing though. Times are always changing.
