There's just something about being watched--
The hairs on the back of his neck seem to realize a presence before even Simon does.
The body is ahead, the mind buffering behind.
A slow turn of the head. Dark eyes barely catch a glimpse of the figure.
"--What...
do you want?"
Suddenly he’s aware of someone watching him. Didn’t really notice them while tagging his name on the side of the building. The native gives the spray can another shake before adding a touch of red to the cement wall, sable oculars squinting from the mist.
“Here to call me a freak? Not really in the mood for the judging.”
Desmond. You adorable lil shit you. For this lil adorable shit right here.
Merry Christmas uwu
Jailbait.
"Next time, let's run when we see the police coming."
Fading to dust
--Oh, he saw it coming.
He saw the gun lower, he saw the trigger start to move, he saw the look of a killer in the man's eyes.
The gun was pointed at Desmond and what did Adam do? Nothing. Just watched, mind still a little fuzzy from the drinks the two were sharing.
He watched, dozens of scenarios running through his head about how he could stop this, but in the end, it didn't matter.
The trigger was pulled, and only at the last second did the soldier twist Desmond so it didn't hit him square in the heart.
Maybe he should have let that happen.
At least then it might have been quick. Quicker than what he was watching now.
Des was on the ground, bleeding from the shoulder, just left of the heart. The guy with the gun had gone, and the crowd in the bar was starting to depart. They didn't want to be a part of this.
"Des, don't go," he pleaded, trying to stop the blood flow. "Stay with me. We still have shit to do, man."
Desmond's lips flicked up into a painfully weak smile, followed by an even weaker chuckle. "Thanks for the drinks."
Blue eyes lifted to fading amber ones, hands shaking a little.
"Don't go, you idiot. You still have to pay me back for those fireworks."
That little smile faded, amber eyes closing. Adam froze, staring at his friend.
"--Desmond?"
"Desmond!"
