It means a whole heck of a lot to know that you enjoy my Animals artwork... I've been a huge fan of the band (especially a certain keyboardist... which I'm sure you've noticed, haha) for over five years now, with me compiling fanart on this blog for a good chunk of that time - I swear, I can't at all help how much they inspire me! Drawing them is how I like to show my appreciation... so knowing that there's folks out there that not only like my art style, but like my take on the band and how I choose to represent them?? A massive compliment.. and I'm just glad to know there's other fans of the Animals out there in general ❤️❤️🐾 The fan community may be small, but I don't mind whatsoever - I'm just here to draw my fractured comfort band and all of the positive/silly interactions between all of the members...

Went with some friends to a couple of record stores yesterday... IT WAS FUN VERY FUN AAAAAAA

...special mention has to be given to what I dub The Compressed Faces... I HAD TO GET IT (and not just because "Mind's Eye" is featured on this compilation)

#...and also target hence the noivern figure (noivern is one of mickie most's government-assigned pokémon)#anyway aaAAAA THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTE BLAST!!!! i went with my coworker and his boyfriend and it was GREAT #they have witnessed my animal-silliness firsthand many many times they're great #and i also forcefully bought them a donovan album because i wanted to spread the good 'mellow yellow' word #i controlled the aux because i was driving and anytime an animals song came on i would announce if alan was playing on it or not #autistic gay people CAN DRIVE!! At one of his concerts this past month, Alan was talking about renting a Santa Monica bungalow from Joni Mitchell circa 1970, when he was starting to be promoted in the US, and now I have to fully comprehend the reality that Alan was in the geographic vacinity of early WAR!Eric for a not-insignificant amount of time...

#learned about this last week and i'm still reeling from it #price-burdon beach episode.... price-burdon beach episode....#alan's been to SoCal with eric before in the animals days buuuut just the two of them??? with these vibes??? interesting.....#i 1000% believe this story of alan's btw because he barely ever mentions many of his contemporaries especially in a gloating fashion #despite the fact that he knew several of them quite closely #he was buddies with graham nash yet never talks about it!!!!! WAHHH #thank you joni mitchell for making my price-burdon beach episode possible with your bungalow... incredible plot for an hgtv show #eric and war traveled to the uk in late 1970 and alan definitely hung out with him and saw him perform there #but there's just something so significant about alan actually being in the states.. ESPECIALLY in SoCal... you know where eric hangs out...#i'm always reminded of when alan says one of this 'favorite things' is san francisco in that one 'loves and hates of alan price' article #hmmm the place eric wrote an entire song about in a country you seldom travel to yet seemingly romanticize hmmmmmm #alan's got a soft spot for that area and i think i know why #eric knows where a lot of those soft spots are.... oKAY I'M DONE #their looks during this era were short-lived bUT THEY GOT TO SHARE THEM. #the way i started squeaking and running across the record store to show it to my friends when i found this #i seriously can't believe this heavy price-burdon lore was IN FRONT OF ME THE WHOLE TIME #i've never thought to look at the back of 'animalisms' online #and haven't been able to see a copy irl yet since the original release was only in the uk/europe (we got 'animalization' in the states)#I HAD NO IDEA THERE WERE INTERVIEWS WITH THE ANIMALS ABOUT ALL OF THE SONGS ON THE BACK?!?!#when i saw those i went out on a limb and was like 'huh i wonder if anyone mentions alan' AND OF COURSE ERIC SPECIFICALLY DOES. TWICE.#i usually wouldn't purchase reissues because i prefer vintage copies BUT i had to #(and it's probably going to be a while before i find a vintage copy of 'animalisms' out in the wild... even when we go to the uk)#anyway. scream scream SCREAM ABOUT HOW ERIC MENTIONS HIM HERE.#it's the 'what am i living for' mention that destroys me (/pos) and provides so much context for things #alan's been playing that song at a lot of his recent concerts and at first i thought it was odd in a bittersweet sorta way because #he doesn't play on the album recording and they never perform it during any of the reunions #bUT THIS CONFIRMS THAT ALAN HAS PLAYED IT BEFORE. MANY TIMES. LIVE WITH THE ORIGINAL ANIMALS!!!!!!!!#ohhh i wish there was a recording of this.... like the original 'see see rider' they used to do that alan plays on aaAAAAAA #eric calling alan 'pricey' always gets me soft (he totally originated that nickname) bUT SAYING THE SONG ACTUALLY. REMINDS HIM OF ALAN??? A #...very reminiscent to Eric listing a couple of songs that remind him of Alan in the sleevenote he wrote for him........#and then eric mentioning alan in the 'i put a spell on you' section - to be expected(?) YET I MISSED IT THE FIRST TIME I READ THIS!?!?#i was too overwhelmed by 'it always reminds me of pricey'#barry and hilton talking about something completely different and eric suddenly interjects like 'wow.... alan did this song too.'#i used to think the choice was out of pettiness (john thinks so too in sean egan's book) buuut further research confirms it was coincidental #alan says he had no idea the animals were planning on doing it for their next lp he just likes nina simone's version a lot #scared the pants ot of jeffery though when he said he wanted to do it for his next single lololololol #AND NEED I REMIND THE UNIVERSE that eric specifically said that he thought alan's cover would get to number one?? AAAA.... SUPPORTIVE.....#it's just very meaningful to be reminded how much eric cared and thought about alan despite everything going on in his life #it's easy to gaslight yourself (connie.) into thinking alan's feelings and emotions towards eric were mostly one-sided #...but it's clear that eric still harbored so much fondness for him.... saying certain songs remind you of him?!?!? ...that's special.....#eric can envision alan's keyboards in 'what am i living for' ... sliding under him... complementing him............ aaAAA SOBS #aNYWAY.
