Two weeks’ notice is not legally required, it’s just a nicety. I would leave now, citing unsafe conditions in writing. See your therapist asap to document your distress, you may be eligible for workman’s comp for emotional distress directly related to their failure to prevent an assault. Nail them to the fucking wall, honey.
I'm going to see one of my therapists tomorrow actually, so this is aptly timed. I don’t know the first thing about getting this stuff in writing, though... Just like, write out a statement with the date, my name, and my termination reason? My mom was saying I should write to corporate about this, so I might just do that, and just... not show up for work the rest of the week. Because fuck that. It’s not my job to be the bigger person to a company that doesn’t care about me as a person.
The one thing I dread is calling and explaining to them, "Hey, I feel unsafe and I'm never coming back okay bye~." Like.. I just want someone else to do that for me, because I'm too scared to even tell them I'm scared!!
And even as I say these things my brain is going, “It’s not their fault!! They’re such nice people!” But these nice fucking people didn’t help me, so what good is that kindness? What good is any kindness if it doesn’t keep people safe? I don’t want to throw the ‘triggered’ word around but that is 100% genuinely how I felt all day, I felt like I was made of glass and someone had just shattered me, and I didn’t know how to pull myself together after.
