For this ask meme! Everything I write with flame has to do either with Dabi or with Endeavor, and both options are miserable! Since you buy the ‘Dabi is a Todoroki’ theory - this snippet is, technically, about both! It’s from Bloody Murder, She Wrote, and is basically Dabi trying to get the situation under control while Todoroki has a flashback and confuses Dabi is for Endeavor. Definitely the roughest time of the whole fic. CW: child abuse

10) How would you describe your writing process?

Really organized, haha! I’ve heard the ‘some writers are farmers who plant a seed and let it grow, and some writers are architects who build a framework and base things off of it,’ and I’m definitely an architect. I have detailed and extensive outlines for most of my fics. That said, unlike some people, I don’t write things in the order they happen in! I’ll write, like, chapter 3 and then 4, and then dip back for chapter 1, and the second half of chapter 2, etc. Having an outline is permissive for that.

25) What part of writing is the most fun?

Getting a character to a point where I can finally break them into that cathartic emotional shape that I was aiming at from the start. >:D Also dialogue and people interactions!

💌- favorite theory?

It feels like cheating to say this, but ‘Dabi is a Todoroki.’ I just really want for Endeavor to face the sheer degree of consequence that arose from his actions, and I also think that a lot of the perceived depth of Dabi’s character comes from seeing him as Touya Todoroki. Without that, he’d just end up feeling like your usual murderous edgelord.

👩- favorite student?

I would kill for Shinsou without question. His snark, quirk, aesthetic, and thematic premise are all so far up my alley that they’ve taken up residence in my living room. Please give us more Shinsou content, Horikoshi, I am freaking begging you.

1) AAAAAAH YOU READ THEM somehow I’m simultaneously slightly appalled and deeply flattered. I hope they were entertaining even without the context! I’m genuinely super fucking touched, holy shit. <3 <3 <3

2) That’s actually!! A really good point that I focus on in my writing! Because I feel like it’s really easy to stick with just visual descriptions of things, but that’s never going to feel as visceral to a reader as when you invest in describing the other senses. I also try to include scent when it makes sense (the number of times I’ve had to google ‘smell of burning [whatever]’...), but touch is the biggest obvious one to write after sight. I just think it really adds to how people experience things!

Ninth Falling Cleric (yes, Tabaxi names are Like That) is a traveling Tabaxi looking to sate the insatiable - that is, the infinitely compelling curiosity she believes is granted to her by the Cat God that she worships. She is driven by wanderlust and a hunger for knowledge to travel the world, swallowing research and histories as an ooze swallows unwary adventurers. In reality, she has been cursed with this demanding compulsion to seek out knowledge to her monastery leader’s satisfaction as a part of the coming-of-age ritual held by her clan’s monastery to the Cat God. Secretly, though, the monastery leader is using this curse to gather dangerous magics for his own personal power.

She’s also like fourteen years old and an asshole.

39. Do you base your characters of real people or not? If so, tell us about one.

Oh, jeez, no. That would make me feel way too weird and invasive - but I do base aspects of characters on experiences I’ve had with and things I’ve learned from real people. For example, a character I wrote for a long time was blind, and I took a lot of what I learned about living with blindness from you-know-who, and applied it to his character. He’s not based on her in the least (and was created before I met her), but she gave me a lot of insight on how I should be respectfully and realistically writing a blind character in ways that I wouldn’t have been able to if I was just googling the subject.
